I am using a Mac Book Pro with OS X 10.5.2. The mouse is really slow and changing sensitivity does not help. The track pad remains sensitive but it's not a good way to play.

Try if changing the setting 'Turn off OS mouse acceleration' in the Settings / Input menu helps. Some mouse drivers do not like the default setting..
