I just installed Nexuiz and played it; fine, great.

I then got nexmappack_r2.zip, unzipped it, moved the pk3 files to the data directory, started Nexuiz again, and though it told me it was doing something or other with the newly found maps, I still got only just one campaign/map to play!?

How do I get to use the other maps?

u have to win the 1st level and then u get to level 2 etc. etc.

You could use the new maps to create a server with bots. That should do it too.

Ouch... but how do you win that? The "Downer" scenario description It says something about a "fraglimit" of 15; does it mean you must kill the bots 15 times each to win?

If you just want to look at the maps (no bots) just to explore them or practice moving around on them, then you can type

in the console to see your installed maps. If you add them to your data directory while Nexuiz is running, then type

maps


to update the list.

Then type

map <mapname>


to start the map. You'll get a 5 minute timelimit by default, so type

timelimit 30

to change it. If you want to play with all weapons or god mode (or other cheats) then type

sv_cheats 1
restart


and then

Code: Select all

god (invincible)
impulse 99 (gives all weapons)
fly (allows you to fly around the map)


If you want the grappling hook on, then type

g_grappling_hook 1
restart


and then press E to fire the hook.

yep 1 frag = 1 kill so get 15 frags before a bot gets 15

and Doku : after g_grappling_hook 1 you do not need restart ôO ^^

I've heard people say that before. In practice, however, I've had to restart in order for the grapple to take effect. A bug perhaps?

well i typ "vcall g_grappling_hook 1" and it says "accepted" and then i can use the hook

No. Since 2.4 you DO need to restart after changing mutator cvars.

I rather think fkereki wants to play the mappack in the campaign.. it contains the needed campaign file but the new 2.4 Menu does not yet have the controls to change the campaign to the one of the mappack.
Without checking i think you can use g_campagin_name mappack to use the campaign from the mappack and just set it to "" to go back to the default one. I have however no idea how good the bot support is on those maps.

I don't get this... I played the first level, and managed to get 10 frags, but the game stops then -- it doesn't go on to 15 frags.

Moreover, after having won (?) the level, I cannot get to the second level, which is still "grayed out". What am I missing, or doing wrong?

Make sure you are not pressing 'Instant Action', as this is NOT a campaign level.

When you do level 1 for example, you must get 15 kills in total BEFORE any bot gets 15. if you reach 15 and the 2 bots have 12 and 10 then you win, but if a bot reaches 15 and you have 10 for example then you will have 'lost' and the map will restart, and level 2 will still be unselectable.
