  • Yes I can :)

    This has been answered sevearl time in the forum earlier, but I'll sum it up for you.

    The most common cause for this iss that your file did not download or unpack correctly. You should under your nexuiz dir have a directory called "data" wich countains at least a data<something>.pk3 file. if this is not the case, you need to unpack the nexuiz distro file and make sure the directory structure is expanded correctly.

    It might also be that your user does not have proper priveliges to acces the feiles the game needs :)

    tell us how it works.

  • @tChr: his download was alright and the permissions are ok too, since nexuiz-linux.sh works

    @lesiulodz: if you use nexuiz-linux-686-sdl, you must be inside your Nexuiz/ directory, otherwise the engine won't find the pk3 file inside Nexuiz/data/, so i suggest you simply use the nexuiz-linux.sh shell script.
    The sound issue is a problem with most modern (AC97) sound cards. To fix this, open nexuiz-linux.sh with a text editor and append "-sndspeed 48000" (without quotation marks) to the last line. If you have stereo speakers/headphones connected to a 5.1/7.1 sound card, you also might want to append "-sndstereo", otherwise the engine will use all speakers supported by your hardware.

    The next version will hopefully give you a way to change these settings in the menu :)

    Arent both the sh file and the binaries in the root of the archive? They shuold run even if it is a flat unpack?

    Edit: oh.. i just realized i read the original post somewhat wrong :) The game is actually ruuning when you use the shell scrpt? Then listen to kadaver :D

  • I forgot to tell you that I use Mandriva 2006 Free Linux and i have VIA AC`97 audio. File is good, i check it with WinRAR and i have unnpacked it correctly. I also put Nexuiz into my games folder "/usr/games" and for games folder I set the normal user priveliges (read/save/executable). Game is working only when i run shell script. I`m using alsa 1.0.9 drivers (via82).
    So my shell scrip should look that:
    Code: Select all
    #!/bin/sh

    cd "`dirname ${0}`"
    ./nexuiz-linux-686-sdl "${@}"
    -sndspeed 48000

    ? Game works fine under windows but I need to run it under linux :)

  • Sorry, i was in a hurry when i typed my response, so my description on the shell script might have been a bit misleading...
    The shell script should look like that:
    Code: Select all
    #!/bin/sh

    cd "`dirname ${0}`"
    ./nexuiz-linux-686-sdl "${@}" -sndspeed 48000 -sndstereo

    (-sndstereo ist optional)

    It already has been added to the FAQ in SVN, so it will be there in the next release ;)
