  • ok now then i have a controller fro my pc... everything works fine EXCEPT for the looking around portion

    z-axis is assigned to left/right
    z-rotation is assigned to up/down
now then this would be bearable but, to look up i move the stick to the left...

a simple swap would be nice... maybe sometthing to play with to get this portion of my controls to work as i need them too?

    thanks in advance

    on a sidenote

i know there are 2 different commands for the console that will give you a bunch of valid commands/values that u can cahnge

however have only been able to dig up cvarlist on the forums...
any1 know the other command that tells u a bunch of commands

  • lol i think im getting the hang of this... but if i stop playing for more than 30 seconds it feels akward again... and it takes 3 hours to get used to it again/in the first place...
well since the quit button should be bigger... and axis binds to the next set of cahnges too i guess...

although a solution to the quit button dilemma could be addding a x in the top right corner in th e menu screens... most pple look there enyways

    interesting solution idea?

  • From a previous thread:

It's not in the menu, but you can switch joysticks by setting a variable: open the console (shift+esc) and enter "joy_index <number>" (without quotes). All joystick found are listed on startup so if you scroll up, you should find the right index to use (i guess it's 1, unless you have more than 2 devices).

And just for the sake of completeness:
    Code: Select all
joy_axisforward              1      which joystick axis to query for forward/backward movement
joy_axispitch                3      which joystick axis to query for looking up/down
joy_axisroll                -1      which joystick axis to query for tilting head right/left
joy_axisside                 0      which joystick axis to query for right/left movement
joy_axisup                  -1      which joystick axis to query for up/down movement
joy_axisyaw                  2      which joystick axis to query for looking right/left
joy_deadzoneforward          0      deadzone tolerance, suggested values are in the range 0 to  0.01
joy_deadzonepitch            0      deadzone tolerance, suggested values are in the range 0 to  0.01
joy_deadzoneroll             0      deadzone tolerance, suggested values are in the range 0 to  0.01
joy_deadzoneside             0      deadzone tolerance, suggested values are in the range 0 to  0.01
joy_deadzoneup               0      deadzone tolerance, suggested values are in the range 0 to  0.01
joy_deadzoneyaw              0      deadzone tolerance, suggested values are in the range 0 to  0.01
joy_detected                 0      number of joysticks detected by engine
    joy_enable                   1      enables joystick support
joy_index                    0      selects which joystick to use if you have multiple
    joy_sensitivityforward      -1      movement multiplier
    joy_sensitivitypitch         1      movement multiplier
    joy_sensitivityroll          1      movement multiplier
    joy_sensitivityside          1      movement multiplier
    joy_sensitivityup            1      movement multiplier
    joy_sensitivityyaw          -1      movement multiplier

Swapping the value of 'joy_axisroll' with 'joy_axisside' should solve such issue, if you are using the SDL executable.

For the GLX executable, consult the previous thread for the commands, and fiddle with them.

is there any large differences between the two?

    btw id consider this solved

also, at the top the of the help/support forum, shouldnt there be a list of fixes?

ie a topic that has the answer to every1s problem in it?

itd be like 24/7 help / support

  • Well there is a search function.. such a list might be pretty big and thus hard to find stuff in it so you need to search anyway. Also joysticks are not used very often still there are like 3 topic regarding those. The search function should find them

  • searching joysticks renders 20 results... if only 4 fo them are accurate, then how is taht any worse than going thru large topic?

a large topic at least lets u use cntrl+f to look for what u need help with, and with a table of contents it would be no problem!

and all the table of contents would need to do is say whats on each page. simple, no?

even IF it didnt have every solution in it, just having the reccoriung topics in it would be really nice, since im sure the stickies already weed out 20-30% of topics, but i think u can weed out 60-70% of them if u used my idea, or at least 70-80% of the effort needed to solve their problem!
