  • I was wondering if other people have notice that this map just doesn't run smoothly like the other maps. It's very jerky especially @ Nex. This is the only map that gives me real problems.

I also tested svn version just now and i still see the same jerkyness.

  • Here too. Seems to me although that this is already a known issue.

iirc it was jerkey on older versions as well. Maybe because it's a very big map with many textures.

  • Vis-blocking on this map is bad because it's quite open, so a lot of geometry needs to be rendered.
    That's what causes the jerkyness.

A fix would be to change the layout or add vis-blocking geometry.
As i won't rework it (i never really liked how the map turned out at all) i suggest to replace it with another one or just don't play it if you don't want to ;)

But i think it plays great in minstagib.

hrm... i need to get some sleep.....

  • well or you could just remove some geometry (e.g. those "brackets" at the roofs).
That should speed the map up

I don't know anymore. I guess it lurked around on my hdd for 4-5 months. And then i retextured it in about 3-4 days to "officially" work with Nexuiz.
It was originally designed for Quake 3 and had a different texture-set (which did fit better imo). I also completely reworked the lower area once after the first (Q3)beta. Still the lower part is (gameplay-wise and viually) not very good.

Yes and there are not so much players that play in the lower part... i just go there to get armor, and i speed up myself to get back in the top part...
This map would be soooo nice for 1on1 if there was only the top part :) too bad i have no mapping skills... if not i would have tried to do it :)
