  • I installed a new vid card on my XP Box, i had a ATI 9600 and got a X800XT from a buddy for free, its a big diff as far as FPS... BUT!! anytime i goto a SVN server my mouse is uncontrollable, my player just drifts wherever it wants, i tried 3 different drivers..new to old and its the same thing, I also tried running it in SDL and its the same thing..ONLY on SVN servers..
    Any ideas guys?
I don't wanna have to put that old 9600 back in
All other Open GL games are fine

I never had this problem with the 9600 on SVN servers

    EDIT:

It seems its not all SVN servers, it only Galts NON hook CTF, others are fine, even Galts hook server.
WTF this is drivin me crazy

  • Running a local game I have a similar problem with Darkplaces from SVN. I'm suddenly left looking straight up or down occasionally.

  • Well its fixed now..I got rid of ATI's drivers( I tried 3 diff ones) and installed the Omega Driver, i get great FPS in XP and less overhead than the ATI driver.
I'm still not clear why this even happened though, its buggin the shit out of me WHY it was only on Galts CTF non hook, i went on there 4 times that day and it was the same thing, my movement was like skating on Ice and I wasn't even pressing a key, i could change servers and there was no problem..
I hate ATI , but then again I got a X800XT for free, i cant complain that much.

  • Someone had changed the friction on Galt's server. Low friction can cause the "ice skating effect"

No, that wasn't it, I know what you are talking about, its like the Spidflisk mod.
This was where even without touching a key I was moving all over the place, quickly.

  • This was much worse than spidflisk which has friction set to 4

I think someone set the friction lower to either 0 or -1

You can test by using the command "set sv_friction -1" and see if that’s what you experienced
