  • Anything i do in the video options menu makes the game crash and go into windows.

This happens under Windows XP SP3, latest version of Nexuiz sdl 2.42.
I have all the latest drivers, including the latest graphics card drivers from ATI for my card (Model "HD2600XT" PCI-e).

Link to error message in Windows:

The technical information provided along was too long to screenshot and/or copy/paste.

Folder directory (in case anything there has been altered, i don't know.)

And by they way, if anyone has a config file that contains settings with maxed graphics quality, can you provide a link to a place where it has been uploaded, so maybe i can use that instead.

  • It is highly likely that it is a driver problem, judging by the fact it has modname being "atioglxx". ATi's drivers generally give more issues than NVIDIA drivers in OpenGL. Vista will not be helping either. You will just have to hope that ATi comes out with a driver that fixes the problem unless you want to get another graphics card or a better OS.

  • A better OS, you say.
You can't be talking about windows vista, and since i have XP you must be talking about Linux (just an assumption).
Well, sadly i can't run linux on this pc.

    And new hardware isn't free.

  • You don't need to click on the apply button, only few options need a vid_restart. Just press the high or ultra button, then esc to leave the menu. Next time your start nexuiz, all the high settings will be loaded. If you don't want to restart the game, try r_restart in the console (shift+esc to open it), some settings like texture quality will take effect.

    LOL.

The ATI drivers are MORE broken on Linux. And on OS X, even more.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • If you only need to change the video resolution, there's another way to fix it.

Just look for the file config.cfg in the \Nexuiz\data folder and open it with WordPad.

Quite at the bottom of this edited file you'll find those three lines:

      vid_fullscreen "1" <-- 0 for windowed mode
      vid_height "768" <-- vertical resolution
      vid_width "1024" <-- horizontal resolution

Just change the values the way you need it, save and close the file. Nexuiz should be starting at the resolution you want after that.

Oh, and in case you don't find those lines, just add them.
