Okay, I've had this problem since I updated to ubuntu 8.10.

I would be playing for awhile just fine until I exit nexuiz and go do something else..when I open it again all I get is a black screen. So I reboot not being able to play nexuiz, thinking it will fix the problem. But, when I open nexuiz again everything is fine until I start playing I find there is texture-less weapons and models. Like this,



I have deleted my config.cfg and tried playing again and it fixes it temporally but after awhile it goes back to doing the black screen. I also tried re-downloading nexuiz and trying it but the same problem happens. I've used svn and regular 2.4.2. oh and btw when you do vid_fullscreen 0 /un-mark the full screen box and hit "apply immediately" it crashes nexuiz.

If any one has an idea what may be wrong please help.

Try updating/reinstalling your graphics driver.

It seems the problem lies in Ubuntu 8.10 (more and more people are comming with similar problem).

I reinstalled it. Nothing.

Try:

• Disable "Desktop Effects" in the settings. Although they caused no rendering bugs for me, they halved my fps.
• Use "pasuspender ./nexuiz-linux-glx.sh" to run Nexuiz, to turn off PulseAudio (alternatively: use ./nexuiz-linux-sdl.sh).

I already had "Desktop Effects" off.

It was working for most of the day with ./nexuiz-linux-glx.sh until I started it up after being away for awhile. But instead of just giving me a black screen it just gave me 10 fps and missing textures. Then I restarted it up again and I could see the menu's outline but no detail. I restarted it again and black screen.

What is your card and driver version?

My video card is:
ATI Technologies Inc Mobility Radeon HD 3600 Series
My graphics driver:
ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver

Edit:I just restarted my computer and no texture-less weapons or models using nexuiz-linux-glx.sh o_O:Edit

You can also try vid_restart and see if that helps.

vid_restart crashes nexuiz
