I used Windows XP on my netbook and when i play, Nexuiz become very slow when I see players (or bots). I changed many settings but no results. Except only "r_showsurface 1", because I don't have slowdowns and i have a better fps (~60).


I have the Samsung NC10 with intel atom N270 and intel GMA 945.

defrag and uninstall unneeded data, also use taskman and try to end as many processes as you can, the less, the better.

Rather than using task manager I'd suggest looking at the services and programs running on startup. Run 'msconfig', Google for every entry and if it doesn't seem relevant, get rid of it.

I would suggest you try r_showsurfaces 3 rather than r_showsurfaces 1 as it gives you something that still looks relevantly playable.

use the startup and registry too, but taskman allows more controll over processess.

I know how to optimized my laptop but the "r_fullbright 1" or "r_showsurfaces 1" give me more fps (40~60fps). INTEL driver bugs ??
