  • It seems like its trying to autogenerate the .mapinfo files and fails to write them to disc and crashes in the process.
It should try to write the files to ~/.nexuiz/data/data/maps (if i remember correctly) can you please check permissions on those dirs? Unless you use some special startup options that could change this behaviour, Which leads us to this question: Are you using the 'official' Nexuiz242.zip or a package provided by Mandriva?

  • Hard drive full, or permissions error in data/data/maps.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • have the same problem, i have the Nexuiz242.zip file

if i look at the data folder (the one from the game itself) there are 2 files in it; commonspog.pk3 and data20080511.pk3.
what do i need to do exactly with the downloaded file? because the downloaded file contains ''maps.pk3'', don't know where to put them.

  • Unbalanced: The permissions on ~/.nexuiz and all dirs below it seems to be quite screwed up. No idea why.. Please make sure you have write/read permissions on all the existing dirs and ALSO the permission to create new files and directories. I do not use macs so i'm not sure how, but i'm quite sure it should be easy :)

  • yes, it is logic, ofcourse
but when i did it the wouldn't start up anymore.
you just get a screen with 2 options: main menu or quit, something like that.
