  • So right now I'm running a Mac 10.4.11, and I decided to download the new version of Nexuiz. It took about perhaps an hour to download, which I'm assuming is due to the size of the file (since it's not a patch). So once it's finished I try unarchiving the .zip, and the progress bar has been stuck at 99% for about maybe 20 minutes to this very moment.

Maybe I'm just a tad impatient. Am I the only one experiencing the long unarchiving time?

  • Since you're on OSX, you should have access to the console/terminal. Look in your applications folder for that application and run it. change directories to the folder you have the nexuiz archive in using the command
    Code: Select all
    cd "<the folder name>"
where <the folder name> is address in your finder window >> something like /home/my_name/nexuiz

once there (assuming OSX has this application) try the following command:
    Code: Select all
    md5sum nexuiz-25.zip

this will spit out an md5 hash which is like a finger print of the file.

if that string matches this one: e9489cf81f6a2ed5776ad98bbf76e57c

which is located on the nexuiz download page, it means your zip file is fine. If it gives you another string, it means the zip file is corrupt and you need to download it again.

  • I created a folder called Nexuiz.2 and tried as you said. And this is the result I get:

    Code: Select all
    nds:~ [name]$ cd "<Nexuiz.2>"
-bash: cd: <Nexuiz.2>: No such file or directory
    nds:~ [name]$ cd "Nexuiz.2"
-bash: cd: Nexuiz.2: No such file or directory
    nds:~ [name]$ cd <Nexuiz.2>
-bash: syntax error near unexpected token `newline'
    nds:~ [name]$ cd Nexuiz.2
-bash: cd: Nexuiz.2: No such file or directory
    nds:~ [name]$ md5sum nexuiz-25.zip
    -bash: md5sum: command not found
    nds:~ [name]$

EDIT: Nevermind, I figured it out. I needed to redownload the .zip. Now my issue is that on the main screen it still says "upgrade to 2.5" despite the fact that I'm obviously playing it.

  • okay... well I think you were a little confused on the directions but I also see that md5sum is not on mac OSX by default. I'm glad redownloading it fixed it for you.

I'm not sure how to get rid of your false version number...

You can try deleting your config.cfg (this will delete all your settings, you might want to back it up in case this fails anyway).

A new config.cfg will be generated when you start nexuiz, hopefully it'll set the version variable right and make your popup go away.
