I have a quite annoying problem with Nexuiz:
I installed version 2.4.2-2 via adept manager on Kubuntu 8.10 x64. Everything works perfectly, but in the config menu and even ingame, there's this super annoying yellow "update to 2.5.1" box moving across the screen. I downloaded the patch now and wanted to install it but how do I do that? There's no install.sh and the readme doesn't mention any Instruction for updating.

I also tried to paste the contents to my ~/.nexuiz folder but the game won't start then. Instead you see the console appearing saying it couldn't load the GUI.

Could someone please help me?

The patch is for Nexuiz 2.5, so you have to install that first. When you have it installed, just unzip the patch to the same location.

If you install Nexuiz 2.5 from GetDeb and then download the Patch, extract the .zip file.
move the /data/data20090501patch.pk3 from extracted location to dir: "/usr/share/games/nexuiz/data"

nexuiz_2.5-1~getdeb1_amd64
nexuiz-data_2.5-1~getdeb1_all
nexuiz-music_2.5-1~getdeb1_all
I installed the 1st 2 and the game runs quite nice, just music is missing. The 3rd one probably installs it.

Also, the main menu of Nexuiz says Version 2.5, is there a way I can verify that it really is version 2.5.1?

it should say 2.5.1 if its really 2.5.1...

Well, thats because its not 2.5.1 yet and yes the third install the music.

So, first install that nexuiz-music_2.5-1~getdeb1_all.

Then download the Patch and extract the .zip file. When you open the zip file, there is a directory call Data.
In that directory there is a file called data20090501patch.pk3.

Move that file to: "/usr/share/games/nexuiz/data/" on your system.
Otherwise, just wait for the getdeb version of 2.5.1 and the binary get right as well.

Too bad that the Nex looks... Well, not pretty and my favourite gun, the Nager looks also bad, but the additions are worth it.
