  • During my rounds in open-source communities I frequent, I crossed paths with the friendly bunch over at www.ubuntumagazine.net and now it turns out I'm an author at the site! My first order of business was to document the best way to install Nexuiz.

You can view the article here: http://www.ubuntumagazine.net/?p=1984

I hope this helps out our Linux users in using the latest version of Nexuiz. Please let me know if I made any mistakes.

  • Without reading anything you wrote and being completely oblivious to everything on that page I found it easiest to place the Nexuiz folder wherever the hell I want it and just create a launcher in my games menu leading to either "nexuiz-linux-sdl.sh" or "nexuiz-linux-glx.sh". I also found that I (strangely) got better performance by restricting the app to using just one CPU core by placing this in front of the launcher's command line "schedtool -a 0x1 -e". My installation is located in my home folder in a directory called my games (/home/lee/My Games/Nexuiz) and the command line on my launcher is: schedtool -a 0x1 -e "/home/lee/My Games/Nexuiz/nexuiz-linux-sdl.sh"

  • Hidden in rudeness I suppose you're offering a friendly tip. I wrote the article in accordance with the other installation guides on the site. Which essentially says what you just summarized, however, the article isn't aimed at linux gurus like yourself...

  • sounds like a corrupt archive.

    at the terminal enter:

    Code: Select all
    md5sum nexuiz-251.zip

    it should match: 8e945f71a922f1f87ab406bafadde93f
