Possible camping rifle bug

  • I was pointing the camping rifle at a bot's head unzoomed.

    Every time I shot the primary fire, I heard a damage indicator and a voice saying "Headshot".
    When I zoomed in on the exact same spot on his head from the exact same distance and angle and shot the primary fire, there was no damage indicator or headshot voice.

    It appears the bullet behaves differently when it is fired with the player using zoom than without the player using zoom.

    I don't know if that's a bug or not, so I posted here.

    When zoomed it goes exactly where your crosshair is (well... kinda, there is bullet drop etc).
    When unzoomed it behaves diffrently (shooting from the hip I guess).
    This is the same with all nexuiz weapons IIRC.

    I agree, it's basically a black box. All we know is that it is there, and it modifies the path of MG/CR bullets somehow.

    ATM I can't hit shit with ballsitic weapons on long-ish ranges, but maybe it's just me

  • This has NOTHING to do with ballistics. It has to do with retarded player models.

    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

    You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

    This can't be related to hitbox because it seems (?) OP used the same bot for testing, which was standing still.

  • Yes, but the top of the head is not always the headshot hitbox.

    Ballistics is more of a nice gradual arc than a box of any form. It certainly isn't a black box: all the math is published (wikipedia it).


    I can hit things with ballistics. Hint: aim higher than your target. Also I use full ballistics, so I also aim infront of where the person is running (lead) if I'm sniping, say, across SpireControl.

    Seriously, you say you're an elite player but all you do is say how you need weapons that are used against you (the nex) nerfed :P.
