  • I've been playing the 2.5 campaign recently and today I got to level 21 or 22, which should be DOM on Basement. Whenever I try to start the level, I am the only person on the map and the gametype is DM, not DOM. When I beat the level before this one (evilspace with the laser) I got an error that flashed up really quick at the top of the screen. All I got of it was "EMERGENCY: The selected map cannot be played..." and there was more but I couldn't catch it in time.

Anyone know how to fix this?

  • Any messages you cannot see in time will be in your console. Just press your "`" key to view it.

You may have to scroll up.
    My will be done.

No luck. The console has been cleared. When I start the level the console does say "Couldn't exec maps/basment.cfg" (or something close to that. I apparently didn't memorize it as well as I thought. )

  • Maybe I'll go back and beat that last level again and then see what the message says....

  • Maybe the file of the map Basement is corrupted.

  • weird - nobody willing to help here? Well, I am not really experienced in Nexuiz troubleshooting, so I'd recommend to simply re-download Nexuiz. I don't know where to get the single maps except from the download package, so if you would want to replace only the map basement you would open up the data[YYYYMMDD].pk3 in your Nexuiz data folder with a ZIP tool and extract all the files that relate to the map basement (alternatively: change the file name extension of the data[YYYYMMDD].pk3 file to .zip and open it). Then you could replace the corresponding files in your current Nexuiz installation (data/data[YYYYMMDD].pk3).

But remember that you could as well use a brand new installation, which would have the advantage that it would correct other errors with your current installation as well. You even can edit the campaign.cfg to restore your previous campaign status, so you won't have to play it from scratch:

Mine currently reads "set g_campaignNexuiz25_index 6" so I'd guess that increasing the 6 to a 7 would skip level 6 for me.

    I hope this helps?
<Community>: Why was the name "Nexuiz" licensed to IllFonic in a way that allows IllFonic to use the name without any suffix or subtitle for a commercial console game?

  • Each new generation of console hardware made use of the rapid development of processing technology. Newer machines could output a greater range of colors, more sprites, and introduced graphical technologies such as scaling, and vector graphics. Wiktionary, the free dictionary.Ludwig Wittgenstein was probably the first academic philosopher to address the definition of the word game. In his Philosophical Investigations,[2] Wittgenstein demonstrated that the elements of games, such as play, rules, and competition, all fail to adequately define what games are. He subsequently argued that the concept "game" could not be contained by any single definition, but that games must be looked at as a series of definitions that share a "family resemblance" to one another.
