  • Hi there,

I am quite newbie with Linux, but i'm used with computers and programming. So, if you think that I am missing anything basic, don't hesitate to answer.

I have just installed the last Ubuntu 9.04, and I have updated all Ubuntu and the kernel to 2.6.28-15-generic.
I have run that command sudo apt-get install libc6 libvorbisfile3 libcurl3 because I have read that they are necessary.
Then, run the sdl version of the game loader (the glx flicks) and everything seems to work as expected.
I have tried the single player, just for test. After a few secs, normally when I am shooting any weapon the game hangs, if there is any sound still playing (like explosions) it also hangs, but the music plays.
I can't leave the game, even change to any other X session and I have to reset the computer.

Tested also with the kernel to 2.6.28-11-generic.

    System Info:
    Ubuntu 9.04 kernel 2.6.28-15-generic
    Graphic card: ATI Radeon x1650pro
    P4 3.0 3Gb RAM
    All with default kernel drivers

Note: the kernel to 2.6.28-13-generic does not support my graphics.

Edit: The catchsegv ./nexuiz-linux-686-sdl -condebug -developer > crash.txt 2>&1 shows nothing before the crash, just the normal "pick weapon" messages

    Thanks!

  • What version of nexuiz are you using? Did you try the debug build? (see the nexuiz general discussion forum)

  • The last release 2.5.1 just downloaded yesterday. In windows runs with no problem.
Could be a graphic driver problem maybe?

  • Try the 2.5.2 debug build I told you about, so devs can know if they have to help or not :p

  • Ok... Sorry for the late, I was this week on holidays and I can't test it

I have downloaded the current debug build. I have downloaded it at full (just for sure)

    It have same behaviour.

I have tested the current release version in a HP laptop computer and it crashes as well as mine, but this time in Windows XP.
(I had checked the checksum of the download )

    Any hints?

  • That might be a graphics driver problem, I'm not really sure...
    Meh.

  • Yeah Mr. Bougo... It is driver. the F***ing graphics card is'nt is'nt compatible with any existing drivers other than windows, even ATI have not specific linux drivers for ATI X1650Pro AGP.

No way to install it by default, even recompilling kernel driver, and also with the propietary. It remains the VESA generic

I will need play on Windows...

    Thanks
