  • Hey people, I'm new here so I wanted to say hi and I have a question.

I've played nexuiz for quite a while and loved it. When I upgraded to the newer version (5.2.1 or something like that) I couldn't see any of the servers. I'd open the app, change my player name and customize some things, and then when I went to the servers there weren't any servers listed. I tried changing some options like the full and empty servers but nothing worked. It's been like this for quite a while now and it does it in both the nexuiz and nexuix-sdl app. The odd thing is that the same thing is happening with Urban Terror on my computer. I can access the servers through the consol in Urban terror though so I don't think it's my fire wall or anything. And in my settings I have allowed all incoming connections. I have a mac.

If anyone has any ideas please tell me because I really want to play. Thanks so much!

  • Try the 2.5.2 beta here first of all, to see if your problem wasn't already fixed :)
    Meh.

  • So I downloaded what I believed was the new 2.5.2 beta. I was the second download option in the list of builds... Same problem... thanks for the suggestion though =]

    Any other ideas?

  • It sounds like you have a firewall somewhere blocking requests. Can you try connecting to popular servers via the console? Something you can try is going to this website, and picking one of those servers' IP addresses and then pressing ~ or shift-esc and typing (this example is for the "Nexuiz Standard Deathmatch 2.5.1 - CA US" server):

    Code: Select all
    connect 64.27.13.37:26100

Depending on whether or not that allows you to connect, you can check /Applications/Utilities/Console.app to check the firewall log. This can be done by going to File -> Open Quickly -> Files -> /private/var/log -> appfirewall.log (if you're on 10.4, I believe it'll just be firewall.log) and see if Nexuiz is getting blocked. Or, you could try disabling Mac OS X's firewall temporarily to see if it allows you to see the server list. If it's not, and you're still unable to connect, you should take a quick perusal over your router's firewall settings.

If none of these work, I typically jump to the Terminal and run Nexuiz from the CLI to view all the console output as it happens. This can be viewed by Console.app, but I find it easier to read in the CLI. Likewise, you should post back here with more information regarding your computer specs, OS version, and other information that would allow proper suggestions.
