  • Hello there.

    You have this posted on your site:
    High Quality/Recommended
      A 1.5 Ghz Intel Pentium 4 chip or AMD Athlon 1500+ or better
      9600ati or 5700fx or better
      512 MB of ram or better

    Low Quality
      1 Ghz Pentium III or AMD Athlon
      Geforce2 Video card
      512 MB of ram

    My problem is that i have:
    P4 @ 3.0Ghz
    Radeon 9550 (128mb/128bit) (@ Omega 3.8.252)
    512Mb of ram

    Game actually is LAGGY on 800x600 @ LOW preset on every map, and with "s_showsurface 3" on some maps.

  • The recommended settings are a lie. You need more ram and a better gfx card.
    Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.

  • This is an issue since the beginning of the game. No-one realy knows what the minimum system specs are, as by each new release the engine gets optimised while new, higher quality content is added.

    Imho, recommended should be at least one gig of RAM, but I'm not sure about the GFX card.
    LordHavoc once said that an NVidia 8800 GTX might be able to run the game at full speed.

    My 9800 GT can't even run all maps with all settings maxed out wo. going under 30-25 FPS.

  • Well yes that may be possible.

    i run game at pc at my work:
    C2D @ 2.2GHz
    GF 8500GT (@newest drivers)
    2Gb of ram

    Runs without problem when everything is turned on and maxed out.

    Thanks for your answers :) im still going to play Nexuiz on my home pc its pretty fun even without all textures :D

  • The ATi 9550 isn't really so close to the 9600 as the name might suggest. And even the 9600 isn't running Nexuiz in a proper way without any special settings you cannot fix in the menue.

    The rest of your system surely is strong enough to run nexuiz properly at moderate settings. All you need is another GFX. If your system only supports AGP cards, I'd recommend to buy a Radeon HD3650 which is strong enough to give you enough fps in every situation. They are quite affordable, in Germany you can get those from 40 to 60 Eurobucks for example.

    Okay, 512MB is poor as well, you should try to upgrade it to 1GB, not only for playing Nexuiz.

    Oh, and if you aren't planning to upgrade your rig at all, try the command r_sky 0 to disable the skybox you don't really need and is eating your fps.

  • The particles, reflections, HDR (disable this), decals, and shadows eat up a lot of fps. I have almost everything cranked and even I disable HDR, use 16 bit color (I don't even see a difference), and lower the particle quality to .20.

    With a 9800GTX and a Phenom II! I can't believe Nexuiz' performance is so bad on Linux :P

    particles = 0
    reflections = off
    hdr = 0
    decals = 0 etc etc etc

    Like i wrote earlier on my pc at work it works PERFECTLY.
    i'll try that skybox cmd next time i play at home.

    BUT! Honestly while using showsurface 3 :) dont draw any textures this game is really a lot of fun for me :)
