  • Sometimes during gameplay there's an ingame message from the server stating that the server is experiencing server load problems and that an admin has been notified. However, no one in the game complains about any problems other than a "wtf" regarding this message.
    Why does it do this? What exactly does the dedicated server use for determining load? CPU? ram? internet connection? Excessive tuba use?

    Server details:
    The server is a dual core 2GHz athlon64 with AMD's virtualization technology and 2GBs ram.
    The server is running debian lenny + the latest vmware server. The nexuiz server runs in a debian VM with 256MB ram.

    No one is actually experiencing any problems and the server doesn't seem to have any real problems. Basically, I'm just curious about this message. It generates lots of "lol"s and "wtf"s in game, along with the tuba.

    I guess I should add that I'm using the newest nexuiz 2.5.2

  • Maybe someone else can shine light on this but well: I've seen that message a few times on my own server..... And I noticed two things:

    #1: MY SERVER IS NOT UNDER MUCH LOAD AT ALL... I can be watching htop, and it's fine...
    #2: ...... It doesn't notify me.. wtf.

    Anyway, I think it's a useless misleading message which should be disabled :P But well, there might be a purpose for it :P
    Do it yourself, or stop complaining.

  • yeah. cpu usage is generally no more than 5 or 10%. I've seen occasional spikes as high as 15 or 20% but nothing more. I think that's during map changes and stuff like that. No real load on the server at all. My other VMs are not interfering as their load to the server is negligible.

  • This message comes from rcon2irc and, just like samual, my server is not having load problems when this happens.

    So I edit rcon2irc.pl and comment out the two lines that give those messages.

    Code: Select all
                    #out dp => 0, 'rcon2irc_say_as server "There are currently some severe system load problems....
                    #out irc => 1, "PRIVMSG $config{irc_channel} :\001ACTION has big trouble on $store{map} after....
