  • Hi! my problem (i suppose isn't a client-side problem) is that on some minstagib server the minsta instead of firing a long straight line, produces a huge cloud of white glowing particles which enormously slow down my game (1~5 fps)
I suppose this is not due to client misconfiguration 'cause on some server (pussy delight minstagib) i have no problem.
I'd like to know how to fix this client-side (i've already tried turning down every effect setting and it doesn't work) if it's possible.
(I've also tried switching between glx and sdl)
I'd also like to know how to fix this server-side 'cause with some friend i run a server but i can't play on it because of this problem.(I've already tried changing antilag 0/1/2)
    thanks
    bruno

  • If I remember correctly this has happened before. Something gets downloaded in the DLcache that causes problems. Try clearing out the Dlcache and see if the problems goes away

  • yes, it looks like that. Reading the other thread i haven't understood which solution i should try: a new effectinfo.txt? how do I get it and where should I put it? Is tZork's solution ("extract effectsinfo.txt to data/scripts from your last valid release pk3 (data****.pk3) and it should override any nonsense from evil pk3's.") correct? thanks in advance for your help :)

  • What fixed it for me was removing the team_beam.pk3 from my dlcache. You already cleared the dlcache and that didn't t resolve it. Do you have any custom pk3 files in your data directory?
If not, I would give tzorks idea a try.

  • What a jerk i am.... i had plenty of custom .pk3 in /data (including teambeams and teambeams_v3) i moved all them in dlcache and deleted teambeams* and now everything's ok.
Thank you very much for your precious help!

  • I think it actually looks kind of cool and I think this should be implemented as a mod. :D

  • I use this way to make sure that custom pk3 files can't "corrupt" base stuff:
make a directory Nexuiz/maps and put all custom pk3 files there..
there start nexuiz with those parameters: -game maps -game data
This makes Nexuiz load the pk3 in maps first and then the "official" ones in data.. pk3 file loaded "later" are more important.

That way you have all the pk3 loaded (can also be choosen from the menu right after start) but they can't do bad stuff..
