[Windows 7] Nexuiz crashing when firing a gun

  • Hey, I've recently installed Windows 7 on my laptop with a new hard drive. I've updated all of my drivers to the most recent drivers, and updated Windows 7 as far as I can, but I keep getting crashes any time I fire a weapon or someone near me fires a weapon. For example, in the training mission it runs well, up until you recieve the weapon to shoot the red button; upon clicking, it crashes. If I make a random game with bots, it crashes the second I hear a gunshot. I don't really know what to do any more, since I've tried several solutions for similar problems on these forums including turning graphics down, using alternative boots, etc but nothing works! Any help is appreciated :D

  • Code: Select all
    ---------------
    Display Devices
    ---------------
Card name: SiS Mirage 3 Graphics
           Manufacturer: Silicon Integrated Systems Corp.
              Chip type: SiS672 series
               DAC type: Internel

Device not supported. You really need a better gpu for playing.

What you can still try :
menu settings menu, video tab :
    - disable "use OpenGl 2.0 Shaders (GLSL)"
    - disable "use Occlusion Queries"
    - set 'Vertex Buffer Objects (VBOs)" to off
In the Effects tab : press the low button quality preset.
In Multiplayer / Player Setup : set gibs to none

I'll try all that (though I've done most of it already), thanks.

  • Erm, actually, this was answered by Ronan already. With an S3 internal gpu you won't be able to run this game. I don't know, maybe the DSN (Damn Small Nexuiz) version runs on that hardware, but it is (naturally) lacking a lot of eye candy.

Your gpu is a different, but also an internal one. I have no idea if Nexuiz will run on that, someone else might know that and answer in your thread :o)

<Community>: Why was the name "Nexuiz" licensed to IllFonic in a way that allows IllFonic to use the name without any suffix or subtitle for a commercial console game?

  • I see that you have Win 7 64 bit. Maybe there is a compatibility problem between the game (maybe engine) and 64 bit architectures.
Although I doubt that, it's better to check the game documentation.

If there is it's a Windows problem only as many people use x86-64 builds fine on Unix. There are less people running with 64-bit Windows than 64-bit Linux.
