  • Are you using any kind of personal firewall? If so, try running Nexuiz in windowed mode, to see if any confirmation dialogs pop up.

  • If you have a router that could cause the problem (maybe you changed something or did a firmware upgrade to it), try this workaround:

create a file "autoexec.cfg" next to your config.cfg and write into it:

    Code: Select all
    cl_port 26005

and tell your router to forward the UDP port 26005 to your computer.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • i'am using nexuiz 2.1 (just re-installed) with winXP incl. sp2 on a Sempron 2800+ and a GF GT6600GT (ForceWare 91.31) behind a netgear router. (firewall was deaktivated, cause to except any problems with it)

i didn't changed the router settings, since the last time a played nexuiz without problems.
but i tried the thing with the autoexec.cfg file, but it didn't worked (yes, i also forwarded the port 26005 on the router)

i think the problem could be arised by an network device i just deinstalled (hamatchi, a vpn-software). now, i still have installed 3 networkdevices. (2 are deactivated).
Is there a way to choose, witch networkdevice nexuiz has to use?

  • Not really - it just uses the default route.

Well, you can choose an interface, but only by specifying its IP. And since only one is up, you wouldn't need this anyway.

If I were at your position, I'd look using Wireshark if Nexuiz sent out packets through the right interface and if replies came back.

  • Which network related software did you have installed apart from Hamachi (personal firewalls? "Internet security" suites?)? I'll try to reproduce it later in a sandbox system.
