Some problems with the forum?

  • This past week, I noticed a change in the forum's behavior. I now have to login twice before it will let me in. The "view posts since last visit" option doesn't display any results, even though there are new posts since my last visit. I'm experiencing this on three different computers (WinXP at work, WinXP at home and my Linux laptop).

Anyone else having these issues? Am I just imagining things?

  • I havent nboticed any sutch things, this ofc dosent mean they are not there. What browers(s) are you using, and does it help clearing the browser cash/cookies?

As far as i know there has been no changes to the forum settings or software lately, but perhaps there was.

  • I'm getting something like that. When I clicked 'Reply' to this thread, it brought me to the main page and displayed the unread posts, which weren't lit up before.

  • Please keep in mind that the forum was set up like that since before I was hosting it, and that the old settings were carried over...

Being that said, I have changed it to not impilent the www. into the address

so when you sign in from either www.forums.alientrap.local or forums.alientrap.local should now set the cookie to alientrap.org

  • Whatever you changed, Willis, NOW I have to login everytime again

It doesn't matter if I go to alientrap.org or www.alientrap.org (at least it doesn't work anymore if I go to www.alientrap.org first and then to alientrap.org). I hope it works if I bookmark it to go to http://alientrap.org directly ... if not, you broke something.

My browser does accept cookies, of course, otherwise it wouldn't have worked previously.

  • My suggestion as a professional would be that the person that has reconfigured the board makes sure he sets WWW.alientrap.org not just alientrap.org in the server name config, so that the domain is correct.

Edit what seems to happen is taht you uplon login is rediredcted from www.alientrap.org (wich is the link from the alientrap site) to alientrap org, wich seem to be the forum config, thus your browser does not recognize this as the same site, and you have to log in again.

there is your problem and your fix. all at once. no go fixit :)

  • Well, phpbb cookies are a pain

I've just wiped the database of all cookie records, and as I recall, thats what has fixed other forums for me, so we'll see...
