  • Looks like this thread is winding down, I hope no one resurrects this.

I wonder what we'll think of consoles in the future.

  • I don't like the idea of Nexuiz for Wii. Actually I don't like the idea of Nexuiz for any consoles but one for the Sega Mega Drive ^^

How come I don't like those current gaming consoles?

  • Nexuiz is not awesome enough if it's just on the PC. And all that gamepad stuff really sucks. What we need is Nexuiz on the Wii.

Who wants to help porting Nexuiz to the Wii? We'd have to rewrite it in object oriented C++ for that as one cannot read the code otherwise, but I think that should be doable in one or two days.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • I have a Wii. I used the Twilight Hack to install homebrew software. I put a GBA emulator on it, an nes emulator, a bunch of other emulators, and I even enabled DVD playback on it. I got a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Wii to make the hack possible.

Red Steel is my favorite game on it, but the blood effects are minimal and bad looking. You will occasionally see a small blackish puff if you shoot somebody in the face.

Red Steel 2 should be coming soon, and it will use the new Wii MotionPlus technology, to allow very accurate and more advanced detection of remote movements, making the sword do in the game what your hand does in meatspace.

For those who don't know, Red Steel is a first person game, mostly fps, but also with some first person sword fights where you swing the wii remote and nunchuck extention to attack, block, and counter attack.

You can even melee by swinging the nunchuck while close to an enemy to cut them down for normally lethal damge.

Damage and health is pretty straightforward too. If you take damage, take cover for a bit until you heal, just like Halo.

Fps are fun on the wii, but PCs are the superior systems for fps, imo.
    My will be done.

  • Well, I have played Nexuiz with both a 360 controller and a dual shock controller. It's very fun, but we would need an efficient method of weapon switching.... I emphasize "very fun," by the way. It's really awesome. (Serious) Aiming is easier on a 360 controller, and is actually nearly as good as a mouse...

On the whole idea of porting...... I say: GOOD LUCK!!! - I have no fucking idea how to, but i'm sure it would be great if it could be done.

  • I used a 360 controller... and it's great.

How is the aiming compared to a mouse?

    I just said I used a 360 controller... and it's great.

On the ports... I have no idea, I want to know as that would be awesome. (We would need separate servers for them though... or some type of handicap for controllers)

I heard somebody say they were. He/she was named Chesire Cat, iirc.

However, I can play Nexuiz with a Wii remote; that's way more badass than a 360 controller.

Too bad I need an ir sensor to make it really awesome.

It's not bad, I mean I hit about 1 out of 5 shots with it.. Which is bad compared to my mouse aim, but I suppose if I played with it for a long time I could get just as good at it if not better.

The accuracy is pretty decent, it has a high movement resolution, so you can fine tune your aim when sniping.
