I have tryied to play Nexuiz since it got in Debian Etch, (I'm a Debian user), but the specs of my PC couldn't play the game at more than 4 or 5 FPS . Recently a friend of mine got a new computer (AMD64 Dual Core, and a GeForce 6100 Motherboard), so I've played Nexuiz, and my impressions were great(graphics, gameplay, etc.etc.). Now I'm going to buy a new PC to play Nexuiz (among other things, like having Compiz, and faster compilation of programs xD).

About me : As I said I'm a Debian GNU/Linux user from Argentina, and I'm learning to program in Gtk+ and Gtkmm, actually working at a massive GNU/Linux migration at my university, currently I have no Internet connection at home , but I hope this situation change soon, , So I'm going to be bothering you in this forum about gameplay and stuff.

No, actually it had pretty cool graphics but with low resolution (640x480 or 800x600 I think), and without realtime shadows (that made it really slow), but with almost everything else at the highest level of detail. If I got my new computer tomorrow I'll try to upload some screenshots .

Sure! I think everyone at our LUG have seen Nexuiz and everyone likes it ( so probably we are going to do more LAN Parties than we used to ).

If you find something in the game weird or simply don't know something, you can find some info here (after the FPS rookie part there is also Nexuiz-specific information), but don't hesitate to ask.

Disk: 80Gb IDE don't know if SATA2 works well in Debian with that chipset.

athlon64 3200+ and 3000+
i got 1.2G of ram and GF6600 though, but its still very playable

My Athlon 2000+/368M/FX5200 must therefore seem prehistoric. tbh I'd be pleased if I'd upgraded to that - and such a positive first post introducing himself deserves a positive response. And his English is a damn sight better than my Portugues!

I play on P4, 3.2GHz, 1.5GB DDR RAM, WinXP and GeForce 4 Ti 4800 SE
And sure I get little FPS with high settings including lightning stuff and everything but I sometimes play it anyway. I think it's playable for me I still win though.

My post was an indication that maybe he should spend a few more $ to get alot more performance. I was not trying to "bash" him or anything.

im playing with a 6100 as well.
but i choose the el cheapo AMD Sempron3400

it works ok and sometime in the future 7600gt will become available below 100€

Cyan >> Well maybe he could have waited a bit longer, but since his previous computer was pretty old (gamind-wise, since it could only run Nexuiz with 4-5 FPS) maybe he got a bit impatient. At least that's how I was when I got out of home in a cold evening to search for RAM, I just couldn't wait anymore .

Well sadly modern games need MUCH more resources then a while ago without the same amount of improvement in the gameplay. Granted quake4 looks really sweet but the gameplay is nothing quake3 would not be able to do too.. And a lot of players make quake4 look MORE ugly then quake3 at default settings anyway.. and its still slower..

Probably, however just in case you don't know 1 dollar is $3 here since I earn $389 a month, discounting what I spend ond food/rent,( no, mommy doesn't help me at all xD), It's all I can buy for now .
