The other day i was out chopping some wood. The logs were heavy and had to dry a year for me to be able to split them. Now there were quite dry, so when splitting them with the axe the axe made quite lot of sound.. the sound was very familiar, but it was long before i realized it was the same ax i used when i created the grenade bounce sounds

Hehe if thats a too big problem for you i would suggest to get a chainsaw

its acctualy mutch more work to split a log lengthwise with a chainsaw then with an axe, if ya do it right that it. nice place ya got there, kinda reminds me of my old house.

tZork is abseloutly right. splitting a log with a chansaw would take forever, and your blade wil be useless afterwards, remember that the fibres in the tree split (relatively) easily, especially with th right technique. Hoever, theser pieces of wood were the very bottom omf some rather tall trees, so they were wide, and far to long for comfort,. (pic 1) The bottom is naturally more dense than the tree is higher up (closer to the roots) so two of the log i actually could not split with an axe.

As you can see (pic 2) the wood just splits up into a mess instead of a clean split (note that the parts lossening from the wood, is the size of a regular pice of firewood) so i a had to resort to using a "blie" this is a flat potiny tool of metal that get wider and wider and is flat at the end (almost like a long thin axe head), this is placed in the side of the log, and driven through it with a sledgehammer. that did the trick
