By the way guys thanks for all the input, i've done some video testing on my laptop since i put this up, and i made a short clip showing what the quality will look like (smoothness wise, 200fps down to 25 and graphics)

It looks really fucking great i have to say..and this isn't even on full detail, i'll try get it onto this pc as soon as possible and upload so you guys can have a look.

And how about sending them back to you as just slightly compressed files, so that they won't be around 1Gb each ... . Maybe XviD with bitrate 16000 or something? That makes the result look really nice and it won't look too bad in the final version where it is compressed again. Also, a 377Mb big avi file file that i compressed in 16000 bitrate just for testing is 14,7 Mb after compressing it, and if i pause playback the frame looks like a jpeg picture. Or maybe we still need less compressing? Sending these huge files over the internet just ain't an option imho .

make them 2Mbit h264, thatis more than good enough as basis for video editing. Most highend vidcams these days comes with optional real-time h264 encoder.

a compressed file will always always always look worse when compressed again, even if you use a high bitrate. h264, xvid, etc. will always strip out information. always.

and tChr: I hope you had a typo in your post

2 Mbit would mean that you enter something like "2000" into the "average kbps" field? that's too little. when you want him to work on it, go with 6000 or more. I once did tests with 4000 kbps, and it just looked "ok" (a setting I'd use for releasing it)

1200kbps is full broadcast/DVD quality for h264 if your encoder doesnt suck.

I use x264 encoder, and you would NOT like too watch a 800x600 (that's lowres nowadays) clip of nexuiz action that is encoded with 1200 kbps .. unless you like PIXELS

Instead of using bitrates I'd rather use fixed quantisizers (not sure if spelled correctly) of 1 (which means "no loss of quality" .. which is relative again). This way the files do get quite big, but still smaller than huffyuv or similar encodes.

Update: External HDD on the way to my place, so i will start to record in about 2 weeks time.

I'm going to mainly stop watching demo's a week on wendesday (maybe a week next friday) so that's nearly 2 weeks if people have any good content to send to me, don't feel bad if i don't pick it, I'm pretty picky.

It would be nice to have more people from the community in the video, rather then half the stuff from myself.

Reason being i have now watched and have nearly enough demo's of un-edited footage on a very large variety of maps (no it isn't mostly aggressor grrr) to start recording and finally make something.

I won't be able to have full detail unfortunately since i have decided to make it on my own machine, however I think there is enough detail there still to look good.

Btw, what kind of movie is it? Is it just DM or is it mixed with CTF and flag cap runs etc?

Stormkeep: 0.55 sec (and maaybe 5.04 min in the demo, but most likey not. I don't see prediction frags as something special, unless they are reaally good. Got loads of them.)

I got lots of other demos with nice frags which I also (pretty certain) would pass your test, but I have lots and I deff don't wanna go through them all. (always turn the auto rec demo on, and also most of them are ctf maps)

It will be a mix ai, TDM, DM, 1on1 and CTF, although i tried to stay away from DM cause of the hard to see skins sometimes.

Nice frag on stormkeep ai, very different on that map to normal frags (hard to do air stuff there).

Bloodprison one was..don't know really...damn nexuiz needs cam's to make it look good
