  • I could do an advertising banner for Zymotic with macromedia flash but I would need a release date with a month accuracy. Something like Coming Up XMass!

Zymotic as Mr. Verm. said is going to be a simple DM game which is going to be then supplied with additional patches!? If it takes so long to do the f**king lvls (they have been doing them for 6 months) i just ask myself how many people are doing them? If someone could recruit people for not like before "show us examples of your work and we will think about you" but in a different manner we could recruit people who have general knowledge about scripts (and stuff) and are fast learners to teach them how to do lvls for a month intesively and then people like me could help zymotic people to do their levels. The only thing they would need is just a bit of tips what the levels are supposed to look like. Then the work would speed up. I don't mean "employ" people who don't know anything about any script and call their local PC expert each time their wireless network fails, no! I mean 15 to 25 year olds with fresh minds to learn the basic and expert level of level and texture (i would like to learn how to make 3d textures :)) making. Also if some would find time the way to script the game (the events and actions of models in the game and modifying engines).

I know some one in a moment is going to reply to me that in normal conditions it takes years to study IT and then to learn all this stuff but, I am a complete opposite as a hobby i spent on average 10 hours a month on learning and practising to do web pages and in a year i know ALMOST every use of HTML and I could use PHP if i have a webpage open with the spelling of all commands and meanings of it and (i never spent too much time on this thing) I got the basics of action script 2 (macromedia flash). Don't get me wrong i'm not proud of myself for that i know i am the least talented out of all of you guys here. Also i was playing with game maker when i was much less informed about IT and when i got bored of it could apply any function in the game by using global and local variables. DON'T GET ME WRONG CAUSE I KNOW EVERYTHING I DID IS S***TY BABY STUFF.
I only made isotromic games, websites an unfinishe flash game!

  • well i look for basics like what program to use and how not to get the shape but the colours cause if you put only one shade of a colour its gonna look like baby painting in MS Paint I mean someone who would TEACH actively how to make levels and models for the game i know it's gonna take away one or two people from the project but then you would have couple of people to help with basic and intermediate stuff. I mean people who at the beggining don't know anything about pk3 map making and modelling. It's like taking one step backwards but five forward.

    What's a 3D texture?

There are some ways of texturing that could be described as 3dtextures. normalmaps could be one, but more so procedural 3(or4)d stuff like simlex noise.
    HOF:
<Diablo> the nex is a "game modification"
<Diablo> quake1 never had a weapon like that.
<Vordreller> there was no need for anything over 4GB untill Vista came along
    <Samua>]Idea: Fix it? :D
<Samua>Lies, that only applies to other people.

  • OpenGL supports 3D texture mapping (think of it as a cube of pixels, from which the model is carved) which could be described as 3D texture, but i don't think anyone is using that feature...

  • this topic isn't about voxels (volumetric pixels) but about the idea of training new people to help with zymotic
