  • hey apparently there is a new stand alone version of tremulous (alien v humans) game based on Q3 engine comes out today at 8PM GMT

  • It tends to suffer from the runaway train effect, but it is very interesting.

  • Oh come on, I know that at least Dave and Tremma have played.

    It is a neat game, and runs damn well.

    Surely someone else has something to add or discuss?

  • The game is kinda cool...but it runs AWESOME....i mean it. everything on, whatever whatever.....smooth as a baby's butt.
    Too bad the gameplay is ruined by shitty players and immature behaviour.

    Can Nexuiz 2 use Q3 please....pretty please....

    Why should we want to loose all those features that DarkPlaces has but Q3 does not have? And this would probably require a total rewrite of Nexuiz so this will not happen :)
    I know Nexuiz 1.5 does not run so good for you but changing the engine is not an good idea.

  • My dreams were shattered on this topic a while ago. Chainsaws get jammed with soft fleshy tissue, so you only get one hit then you can't use it anymore :evil: :roll:

  • what about a disk cutter then? the type used to saw through concreate with *drewl* dimoned hardended cutting blade.

    also how would you know they get jammed?

  • At least the laser is useful, unlike the thing quake 2 had. Yeah a melee weapon would be nice but its just very much work. You first need the model, and then you need to add new animations to all models. I'm not even sure all the model sources are still available so this might get very hard to do in a nice way.
    I think it would be easier to add some secondary attack to the laser. A sort of shockwave. But on the other hand does really every game need a melee weapon? I think right now most weapons are more useful then just 1% of the time.. a melee weapon would be less useful with the general speed in Nexuiz.

  • adding a melee weapon would actually be pretty easy, but I've never thought it would work in Nexuiz.

  • I think the axe in q1 or the gauntlet in q3 'do not work' too but i think its more about humiliating your opponent :)
    So if its really that easy i would love to see a melee weapon in Nexuiz. But i guess thats then an other weapon with only one useful attack and thats something i do not like. I think the laser, nexgun, crylink and hagar should first get useful secondary attacks before adding a new weapon to Nexuiz..

  • Does anyone have any hints for playing as the Dretch?

    It's ridiculously difficult for me to get kills with it. It try to go for the head, but it doesn't seem to do any good.

    I like the dretch the most after tyrant.
    All you have to do if fight like a pussy.
    A bite here and there and hide :twisted: Dont go after a crowd unless they are chasing a maurder or something "jumpy". I manage to get quite a lot of kills as dretch and often choose not to evolve till stage 3. Also, a crowd of dretches can be quite a pain in the ass even for bsuits since they are so small. But you need 5ish good players who know what they are doing.
    Stick to cealings and walls if you're alone and run like crazy. It's very hard to get killed that way.

  • Well, curious as I am I downloaded Tremulous and tested it.

    I have to mention I'm a type of player who wants to go the easy way into a game. I'm not interested in game philosophy. I won't read any manuals unless a game starts to really excite me.

    Tremulous is not that way. I don't understand what this game is about. It seems this game has everything I never liked in 13 years playing FPS.

    The graphics are not the style I like. Even good old UT had much better ones.
    I couldn't even notice a difference between larger screen resolutions. I wasn't able to get well control settings.


    I was pissed off then and deleted Tremulous.

    I'll stick with Nexuiz.

  • I like the graphics. It means I can actually run the game quite well, unlike Nexuiz.
