  • Ok folks.. I need to update my firewall for windows. Any recommendations? As an antivirus prog I use NOD32. I know Avast and AVG are also some good ones but to my knowledge they don't have firewalls. I currently use Sygate but wanna switch as according to morfar they haven't updated that prog for years and that might not be a good thing ;)
I don't know that many firewalls and some say ZoneAlarm is good some say it's bad. Buuut, what do you use and think are good ones?

    Soo.. let em rippppp!

  • I like ZoneAlarm. It's a bit of a bitch to train in the beginning, but if you know what you're doing, it doesn't take long, and it feels like you have a fair amount of control, both over what comes in and what goes out. The people who bitch about ZA pop-ups all the time must not know how to configure the program.

  • Ok forget it, I will kiss ZA goodbye that crazy prog. Everytime I open a new program that requires any kind of openGL or 3D support the whole computer freezes cause ZA SHOULD give me a popup saying if I want to allow it or not... but it never comes and when I want to open the taskmanager it never shows. The computer literally freezes, only the mouse moves but nothing I click on works.

Crazy shit program. I hereby am one of those people who hate ZA :) So, what else of firewalls are there?

    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • I currently use AVG free edition as Anti-Virus. And Zonealarm Free edition as Firewall.
I addition to those I use Ad-aware 2007 and Secunia PSI.
Secunia PSI makes sure all my software is up-to-date, because virus and trojans usually exploit security vulnerabilities in programs and Windows.

  • Comodo Firewall is fabulous. It's also the only one I know of that allows one to easily define network access for specific programs. It's also free.
