  • you can compile kde for mac and it should work.

This is a quote from another thread, but I thought it would be better to pick it up again here.

I don't know how to "compile kde". Is this something easy to do? Do I need any special software?

Any Mac users interested in Mumble?

Why install kde, when only qt is needed? But even with qt installed mumble might not build/work on osx, if mumble doesn't support an osx compatible sound API.

  • Thanks for the link. I asked in that forum if there was a downloadable version for a Mac. I know there isn't an official release yet.

That's it, I'm driving down to your place, tying you up and putting Linux on your computer. That'll be the end of all this is-there-a-Mac-port junk. :P

EDIT: Seriously, though, I wonder if John will consider throwing this up on his CTF servers. :)

  • Yeah, i think I'll put something in the MOTD on the servers to promote use of this. If that's ok with Psychcf of course.

  • Seems there is hope for Mumble on the Mac! :D

I've been testing some builds for one of the developers. So far, nothing happens, but the error messages are useful. He thinks it is just a matter of including the right libraries, so maybe it won't be a big problem.

    I'll keep you posted.

  • Okay, there is an unofficial build of Mumble for Mac OS X. I'm sure this will be posted on SourceForge soon.

It seems to be working, but I haven't been able to give it a complete test. It did let me log on to the TSA Mumble server, but no one else was there at the time so I couldn't check the sound.

  • From my host:
We are upgrading two of our main hub switches (switch1 and switch2). From an older Cisco model to a newer pair of Cisco 3550 switches.

The goal of the new setup is to improve performance and reliability as well as increase our flexibility.

This maintenance affects most dedicated servers and VPSs setup in the Dallas data center after about March 2007. It does not affect NY, Brisbane or London-based servers. Affected users should also have received an email from us about the change.

The process for each switch will be a two step process.

First to make a gateway change on the hub switches.

Our network admin estimates this should be done with about 30 seconds of network outage.

Second to physically move network cables from the old switch to the new switch.

The network admin estimates this will have a 1 - 10 minute network impact.

The outage times are the expected times presuming no problems arise. A longer window may need to be required if things do not go smoothly. If there are issues, then the staged approach we have taken is designed to permit a roll back of the setup to the previous, working state.

We will be updating this maintenance notice with any further information or changes to the schedule.

We will be making the changes as follows:

    Dec 4 1800 CST (=NZT 1300; = 000 UTC) gateway changes on switch2
Dec 5 1800 CST cable changes on switch2
Dec 6 1800 CST gateway changes on switch1
Dec 7 1800 CST cable changes on switch1

    btw: I'm on switch 1
