  • some of you may know i had this idea for some time already but i couldnt come up with a proper word.
last night someone had this beautiful idea:
    http://ouns.wikispaces.com/space/showim ... ubbles.pk3

don't take this too serious ;)
you can put it in your "~Nexuiz/data/" folder or email it to your non-Nexuiz-playing friends and they will be like "wtf?" or open it with a text editor and print it on paper as a very special christmas present for your mom. i will do that.

  • put it in "~Nexuiz/data" folder.

a Ninja waypoint would be cool, but thats a bit tricky (for me). the chat and team bubbles are SPR and the waypoints are SP2.
dont expect anything soon. (except if you want that as team bubbles)

Yeah, it in my data dir, still nothing (on windows if that matters).

I'm not sure I understand what makes 'ninja' harder than 'bonus'.

I tried replacing the tga's but apparently that won't work if the spr/sp2's contain image information as how I'm reading, pixel by pixel.

Though, I can't get your pack working so technically I can't know if replacing the tga's WOULD work for sure and the spr/sp2's appear to be compiled..

Team would be fine for now :D. I kinda just think it would look cool as a screenshot.

  • You can exchange .spr and .sp2. The extension is ignored - if you save a .spr as .sp2 or vice versa, it will just work fine.

LordHavoc's modeltools include a tool to make sp2 files, and I made a tool to make spr files. However, waypoint sprites have to be .spr now (even if they have the extension .sp2) so they can get an additional flag that tells the engine not to scale them.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • So my problem had to do with the fact that I extracted the data pack into my nexuiz dir a while back and just never really fixed that.

I tried it on a clean build...

    Image

    still not quite right :-P

Does the spr contain the image data as well?

  • ninja team bubble (you may need to right-click to save)

that's just the team bubble. i will make a "CHATTING" bubble later.
i cant get the border to be black, it's either white or transparent. :?

the program i used for the sprites is SprWiz. it comes with a short explanation.

  • you dont have to delete it, but you should remove it from the data folder, OR you could just rename the new one, placing a "z" in front. the files are loaded one after another, so the last one will be the one you will see in the game.

i have a folder where i place all the Nexuiz files that i dont use and where i keep the raw files for creating the paks.

  • Can each playermodel have its own bubble, a bubble over the Pyria's or the Quark's?

Can the bubbles be turned on / off with a console command?

  • How do I use these PK3's?

Afk, Busy, Camper, Chatting, Desu, Hacks!, Idle, Noob, Typing

I assume I place them in the .nexuiz/data folder, but how do they work? WIll the Nex users have Camper over their heads? Who will have a Noob sprite?

Can we vote on a new sprite?

You can put them in "~/Nexuiz/data", "*.nexuiz/data" or "*\Nexuiz\data".
The bubbles only replace the default sprites, like the "GNU" keys above chatters and "Team Mate" above team members. It will replace it for all who chat or for all team members, so if you use "AFK", everyone who chats (or uses the console or menu) will have "AFK" above their head. If you use the "BONUS" altbubble pack, all chatters and all team members will have a "BONUS" above their heads.
