Hello everyone! I must say, Nexuiz is a nice game, and congrats to all those who've contributed towards its creation. I've been playing it a bit, but not much now, since my exams are near.

I'm a hobbyist programmer myself, and I had worked on a game last year (it was completed in August), called 'GraLL'. Its a strategy/action game set in the future involving robots and all other cool stuff. I did all the graphics and programming myself, so it may look a little crappy. :)

    Overview
In the year 2047, scientists all over the world are competing to make the greatest robot. One company, Gravity Systems, had come up with an idea never thought of before. They thought that a robot, shaped like a sphere, would have no chances of loss of stability, and would have extreme maneuverability. So, the scientists of this company started working on this idea, and came up with a working prototype by 2054. They named it GraLL, an acronym for Gravity BaLL. They carried out every sort of test imaginable, and yet the chairman was not satisfied. He wanted a mega test, a test no other robot would be able to pass through. So, the scientists got to work again, and got the test ready by 2065. This test was riddled with traps, doors, keys, acid, crates, enemies and a lot of other things. There was only one thing left to do. Put GraLL in there and see what it would do...

Use your skill and intelligence to guide GraLL through 30 action-packed tests as he avoids obstacles, solves puzzles, unlocks doors and does numerous other things in his quest to be qualified. Improve your score and compare it to others, and declare yourself the master of GraLL. GraLL needs to get through as fast as possible, and only you can help him.

There is one way you can help: Spread the word. Tell people you know, email people you know, post in the forums you know. I don't mean spam, but tell your friend as a friend, for example, "Hey man! I've been playing this game, and I thought you'd like it.".

Have fun playing the game! Hope you like it! :)

    Thank you for reading.

  • Well... I just tried it...

first of all, it runs fine on Linux in wine. Just need to install vc_redist before. However, you could probably make a "real" Linux build easily, as you are already using a portable engine.

Secondly... the game really remidns me of another game. One I once made, and of course the classic Oxyd.

I gave up at level 4, as it is so annoying to have to self-destruct because you accidentally pushed a block a unit too far... Sokoban in a game with such controls is just sadism. Other than that, cool game. Does it also have slopes?

You may want to try the game trackballs - it has IMHO much better level design, but looks much worse. You did a great job at the visuals - all it still needs is something like a skybox... well, SOMETHING around the map that isn't black void.

And BTW, with the game I made I did the very same mistake - I made it impossible to play for mere humans. An idea for improvement would be showing off more capabilities of your game (like, slopes, jump pads, maybe even loopings) that are cool but relatively easy to control, and do the Sokoban sadism in later levels. That also makes people have a better impression of your game.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.
