  • open the console ( esc + shift ) and type
    Code: Select all
    ply demos/DEMONAME
(DEMONAME = name of the demo) and press return

    with commands like
    Code: Select all
    slowmo x
    (x = number)
you can play the demo faster ( x = more than 1) or slower (x = less than 1) , with 0 you stop it

  • Someone should make a .cmd file for Windows that:

    - gets a name of a demo as %1
    - copies it into Nexuiz/data/demos, if it is not already inside Nexuiz/data
    - runs "nexuiz -demo filename", where filename is the path with Nexuiz/data removed

If someone can make that, one can assign it to the data type .dem and make them double clickable from the Explorer. That probably would be the best and simplest solution.
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

  • You should record some before you can watch them :P Enable "Demo recording" in the Options menu.

  • If you can watch them, they're already saved. Somewhere. I can't believe that they're not in the demos-folder though.
Anyway, you might want to export them to real uncompressed video files to edit them later with your video editing software. So, I quote myself...

I wrote:When the demo's playing back, you can open the console another time and type
    cl_capturevideo 1
to start a direct export to an .avi-video. It may stutter, but in the end you'll have a better video quality than with any kind of screen capturing program. It takes some time and a lot of disk space though. So, be prepared. *
When you're finished with that, you'll have to open the console again and set
    cl_capturevideo 0
    to stop exporting.
Quit the game and start Finder -> "Go to" -> "Go to folder..." and type in
    ~/.nexuiz/data

Now you'll see your personal ultra-special secret Nexuiz folder which contains your configuration file, your download cache, your screenies, your demos and your exported .avi-footage.
All you need to do now is to put your footage into any other folder (like Movies :P), start up iMovie and edit this stuff.
    Have funskij!

    * P.S: Before exporting .avis, you should max your settings to have a nice movie to look at later. After export is complete, you can return to your old settings. Yeah, and turn off your HUD & crosshair to see more of the screen.
I have two separate configuration files for this purpose, but there also seem to be prefabricated .cfgs around somewhere.

    Any video editing software.
iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas, Magix videoDeluxe, VirtualDub... Windows Movie Maker...
It's okay, that you can watch the demos only ingame. You just have to follow my instruction and you will find some nice .avi-files inside of your hidden Nexuiz-folder.
