Hey all.

I played in a DM server and asked how ppl think about the idea for a laser only gametype. We started inmeadiatly playing with laser only.

The others really enjoyed it.

How do you think about it?

A few things are needed:
- Not able to pick up other weapons
- Space maps
- Invisibility
- Same settings as minsta.


If people like the Idea, it could be packed as gametype in the new nexuiz version. It's just an Idea.

You mean, one hit one kill with the laser?

I like the idea.
Like AI I wanna know if its One Shoot Kill.

Maybe not, and include a secondary laser shoot that kill in 1 shoot. But very long to load.
We can imagine, a special power up : One Shoot Kill (c) Qz, OR teh Qz Shoot (c) =)
Maybe primary should do X2 damage or more else in no-space map, killin people will be fuckin boring.

Idea is to shoot them off map or maybe 3 shots to kill

i made a mod somwhat similar to this some time ago, laserwar.

basicaly each time you hit someone, without missing a shot between, the laser gaind a little bit of strength and re-fire got a little faster. missing a shot reset your accumulated damage and refire bonus. midair hits got a 100% dmg boost. all pickups got replaces by small (+5) armour and health pickups (original +5 ar/hp got removed)

I'd like to play this mode, so I want it.
Isn't it possible to play around with the .cfg, so that transparencies are disabled and people are visible again? I mean, will this mode/mutator be safe from cheating?

maybe a mode where people can choose the weapon for each map ( like with maps now) !

aah! finally themed games! that would be cool. each map would have its own weapon or gamemode.

My, that gametype would be great! Though physically utterly paradox (slow, splash damage, pushing...), the Nexuiz laser is actually one of my favorite weapons. Sometimes when gameplay is not really gripping, I start to use laser only, just for the fun of it. Eventually, some opponent will answer by also using laser only on me, which is then REALLY fun until someone else finishes our great duel by throwing a rocket in my or my opponent's face...

I also very much like the idea of the increasing damage when you hit somebody and the differentiation between direct hits and splash hits. That would be great fun to play, though it might be useful to cap the maximum damage multiplier somewhere.

If that could be made a new game mode that would be really neat.

Also on Pinkrobot's fun server you could play a 1v1 laser battle where the objective was to laser your opponent off the map to his doom, great fun. Special maps had been created for the mode by Pink and FruitieX which were enjoyable to play. And if you were not playing you spectated which created a nice atmosphere and meant that when you played all eyes were on you and your opponent!

100% Agree. Would be great if there would be a server for it.
