I am making a RPG/Shooter type of game. i planned this game for moths now... maybe over a year... Never got the right Idea, UNTIL TODAY. I also wanted to make short clips that either go into the Movie, or get put on You Tube, and other sites as trailers... (or promotions).

So basically, it's a story, and since I came up with it being based on the [story, if you can say there is one, lol] and Characters of nexuiz, i was wondering if i can have the permission to use those in my RPG type of game that will promote the game big time... But as the title states... Permission to use "nexuiz" name, and logo, etc....


Well can I? Who owns the copyright?

Could you give a little background on yourself. Such as are you a student, are you working with games, have you done a game before, what do you know of making games, how far into this project are you (just started, just finished planning) etc.
Also, how will your game be, RPG but what are you going to do in it? How "big" will it be (such as just a simple little game or a full-fledged one), what kind of engine will you be using, do you have the knowledge needed for that engine and so on.

There's tons of questions to answer before jumping into something like that. Making a game might seem easy but without the proper preparations you won't get far.

I've done a small game before. But this game, I hope will be big. Right now, we are changing details on weapons characters, etc. Then we will start to write the Story soon! Also, Yes I am a student. I'm on my PSP so more info soon.

Well, to me it seems a bit odd: you're talking about promotional trailers, yet you still didn't explain even the basics. I had the idea of making my own game, too, but i had to put it on hold, because i realized i didn't have enough content to start with, let alone a proper concept.

We are still designing... like modifying the weapons, etc

Basic Story: Special Forces (of nexuiz) have missions... Also ATcorp, maker of the guns: electro and Machine Gun, will manipulate the guns or something, we dont know yet exactly.

Actually, I wouldn't want Nexuiz to either be a nation, a planet, a team, a weapon or anything like that. It's too common and too boring IMO. I vote for something totally different.

What exactly do you mean by RPG/Shooter?

Do you mean an FPS with some RPG elements (classes, leveling, etc)?
Do you mean an FPS with RPG style turn based combat?
Do you mean an RPG style game with FPS style combat?
Do you mean something else entirely?

Is it going to be anything like Savage or Purge?

You say "shooter" without qualifying further... Are you planning on first person? Third person? Some combination of the two?

Single player, multiplayer, or both?

It's kinda like a semi 3D RPG with guns, the shooter part means it will take away the RPG type of combat and just lets you shoot... well, maybe, i dont know yet... so yeah

I'm still waiting for a good explanation and lots more info (such as, is there more than you who works on this, and if so how many and who are they?). Cause I'm skeptic about things like these. Right now, I have no idea if this idea does stand a chance or not. It requires lots of effort and hard work into creating a game, and creating a "bigger" game as you want is even worse. But I don't know how many people are working on it, how much knowledge and experience you have, how motivated you guys are and how determined about this. How well you have planned and how organized you are, timeframes, equipment etc. etc. etc.

It does require lots, and I hope you guys are well prepared. And depending how well you guys have planned it out I might even consider helping out. But without more info I dare not to spare my time. (That's the main reason why I want more info ^_^)

We decided to delay it for a litle while, we really dont have time at the moment. So, sorry. But you guys could help by writing a good story about the things we already got. I will scan them in some other time.
