They moved the forums here and switched from IPB to phpBB, and we lost all the posts.

old forum needed an update due to a security breach,but apparently vermeulen decided to use a new one

First of all the old forum was a trial version of a commercial product, so moving to a free one, makes sense for a project like this.. Second i think there was som issueas about having to pay for upgrades, wich i guess noone wanted to do.. Thirs.. tZork has all the old stuff and is trying to make it accessible in some way.

But seriosly like tChr says the old one was a trial, needed updates and those would cost money. Secondly, as im sure most of you noticed, the old forum got hakked. The attack in question was of a rather nasty nature as far as forum hakks go, so it was pay for a new ipb or switch to a gpl forum.

And tho the "loss" of the old posts is sad indeed they are not gone forever - we have a backup of the database. I will try and work out a way to convert this database into static browsable, and serchable pages. This will however take some time to do (eta is "when its done" ).

Another good thing this move brings is a accurate count of active comunity members and it also cleans out all the outdated stuff noone wish to know enyways.

"Another good thing" is we now have EMAIL NOTIFICATION that works! Yah BABY!!!!

I wish I could have some free beer right now. Some of my 'friends' are actually a bunch of braying tosspots and I only have a whole 50p Sterling to last me the weekend. So I'm not going out. Not that I actually wanted to, I just felt obliged as it was one of said 'braying tosspots' 21st birthday.

That and it's snowed a pathetic amount but still enough for Northern townies not to do any of the really unconstructive things they like to do, like stealing car stereos, drinking frosty jacks on a park bench and innappropriate tracksuit wearing.
