A neat trick for the furure:

  • Copy the database to the new server.
    Set up both servers to work on the same database.
    Change DNS
    Lose nothing :)
    the spice extend life!
    the spice expand conciousness!
    the spice is vital to space travel!

    I agree
    1. Open Notepad
    2. Paste: ÿþMSMSMS
    3. Save
    4. Open the file in Notepad again

    You can vary the number of "MS", so you can clearly see it's MS which is causing it.

    I didn't even think about redirecting the database.

    Either way, we only lost about 30 minutes, which was only a couple posts. Theres only going to be about 5 people who will really notice that ;)

    Maybe you lost a couple of _my: postsm but overall you lost at least 10-15 or so.. There are lots of post i know I read, but that are not there any more :)

    Edit: They were all the same level of interesting as most of my posts btw, so nothing real was lost :)
