  • In the "What are you listening to" thread Yellow Robot commented saying that it would be a good idea to have a top 5 videogame soundtracks thread so here it is.

My top in no particular order are:

Sonic CD (North American version)- Stardust Speedway Good Future
    Nexuiz- Sc0rp's Total Meltdown V2
    Unreal Tournament GotYE- Course
Sonic 3D Blast (Genesis/Mega Drive)- Boss Theme 1
Zero Wing (Genesis/Mega Drive)- Stage 2 BGM
I have left this website with the rest of the GPL Nexuiz community. You can find us at Xonotic.org

  • Although it's out of my regular gaming scope, my favourite gaming soundtrack ever is probably the number from the final Super Special Stage round of Sega Rally 2. It was very well linked to the track itself with the many quick changes in direction. I think it helped me get my 45.916s.

  • Castlevania: Symphony of the Night has one of the best OST ever, I find it pretty strange no one mentioned it.
I could also list Alone in the Dark 2, F-Zero, Wipeout and Monkey Island, in no particular order, and just because they are the first ones to come to my mind.

  • Scarface: The World is Yours has an awesome licensed soundtrack imo, filled with music of many genres and integrates with the game seamlessly.

Geist is a rather underrated FPS which has background music that masterfully adds extra excitement to the game. (Some people find the soundtrack to be monotonous, but it is varied enough for me.)

I can't post a link to Geist's wikipedia article, because this forum does not support parentheses in URL links.

The Doom 3 theme song is great, I also like the various tunes in Half-Life 2.

EDIT: Oh crud, I forgot to add "Metroid Prime", and the "Condemed: Criminal Origins" theme.
    My will be done.

  • Every song in Final Fantasy *, Star Ocean *, and Dark Cloud 1-2...

Also, some in Gran Turismo and Sly Cooper.
