  • I don't understand, I'm quite happy with KDE4. Sure, it still has flaws, but serves as my desktop for months now pretty well.

  • I think the statement of 4m could also be interpreted as positively surprised/stunned.

On a side note, though I generally like eye candy and all sorts of gimmicks, I never really got used to the KDE desktop for my daily work. Sure, it looks good and has lots of interesting functions. But somehow gnome feels much more efficient to me. Plus, I've had a lot of stability problems with KDE and symptoms where you configure something in some neat configuration app and KDE just doesn't care about it and continues doing the stuff I just configured it not to do. :o/
<Community>: Why was the name "Nexuiz" licensed to IllFonic in a way that allows IllFonic to use the name without any suffix or subtitle for a commercial console game?

  • lol @ wiki! :D

No, yes, i ment it has some nice features. Sure, it's not perfect, people are sabotaging it, like the issue with KUser, but the good thing about Linux is one always has workarounds.

Let's keep this discussion about the good stuff. (The not-so-good stuff is most likely in the bug reports, already.)

ARGH! My Linux has a virus!

  • I'm perfectly happy with Snow Leopard. Runs stuff (specifically Nexuiz) faster than Ubuntu did. :D

  • I tried kde in kubuntu 9.10. It was nice at first, but I think I found a bunch of bugs, and my harddrives did not want to mount, so I went back to ubuntu and had no issues. :P

  • KDE 4.x fails, the only KDE that even worked slightly well was 3.x -- And that looks ugly now.. Basically: KDE sucks. WMII/Awesome/Gnome ftw
Do it yourself, or stop complaining.

  • I really like KDE 4.3 and run it on my system under Arch Linux using the kdemod builds. 4.0 and 4.1 didn't have feature parity with 3.5.11 but I don't find anything missing nowadays and the improvement in Konqueror is very noticable. I have tried Gnome and I hate it almost everything about it. Xfce I have also used quite a bit and while I find it worthwhile on lower powered systems, it simply doesn't allow me to get things done quicker. As a non-power user environment it's fine, even my mother uses it (also on Arch).

If you're stuck with 4.0-4.2 just because your distro is crap, change distro, not your desktop environment.
