  • I am a new player and this is my first post. I dled 2.5 the other day, and now I understand there is a 2.52 available. My bad timing. At any rate, I'm sorry if this isn't the correct thread but I have a simple question and I need precise file management here please. I can't find a simple upgrade, so do I need to dl the 2.5.2 version , unzip it with 7Zip (hopefully retaining the file structure of 2.5)? And is it going to overwrite what it has to in the file,or what? Thanks in advance. And by the way, a most impressive game!

  • Welcome to this forum (and to the game, of course)!

Sadly, there is no such thing as a patch, you will have to download 2.5.2 completely. On the other hand I wonder where you got the 2.5 version from - 2.5.2 is out quite a while already.

If you extract it you may even choose to extract it to a different folder, then it won't overwrite anything for sure.

If you download the 2.5.2, you won't loose all your settings, if that is what you fear. The personal settings (like resolution, fov and such) are stored in a folder in your home directory (".nexuiz" on linux or mac and something else on windows). In case you (automatically) downloaded a lot of maps and other stuff from public servers and you don't want to do that again you might also want to copy your old "dlcache" folder to the new directory.

    Happy fragging and Cheers!
<Community>: Why was the name "Nexuiz" licensed to IllFonic in a way that allows IllFonic to use the name without any suffix or subtitle for a commercial console game?

  • Are any personal settings you made being stored in the config.cfg in the main program's data folder? o_O I didn't know that - well, I always learn new things here. Thanks for the hint, then.

depends on your OS. Windows does it that way by default, but that can be changed too. I like that its done this way, because otherwise if you'd use the same config for different nexuiz versions, one engine/game might change (or delete saved) variables on their turn, messing up your cfg file.

  • Oh ok, I always thought that there is a folder under "My Files" where Windows Nexuiz stores this kind of information since version 2.5 or so. But I haven't installed/run Nexuiz under windows for a while (ever since I got Linux SVN up and running, that is).
