I think it will all be about the name. There were several discussions going on and the name that leaked itself into this poll is quite intuitive. Obviously, the new name will be pronounced "Quickieth", which quite ingeniously transports the message of the fast-paced gameplay.

I think it means that they blew up a planet for advertising reasons. and in march, they are coming for ours.

I fell i must say this:

Im not at all amused by this. That someone can take other ppls work, work that was intended to be free, repackage it and sell it for their own profit without even so much as a pre-notice to the ppl that spent years contributing to the "donor project" seriously pisses me off. Im uncertain if ill continue to develop for this project, im a bit to enraged to think straight atm. This whole thing just stinks of disrespect to the current developers and community of Nexuiz. I doubt its even fully legal since none of the other contribs i talked to where asked or notified abt this.

I think that, what was said in this topic regarding such matters was meant as a joke. Otherwise I doubt anyone would try selling Nexuiz, afaik it's not legal either since the game is GPL and no one may sell that. I perfectly agree though... such a thing is the ugliest gesture someone could do to a free project, and I hope (and think) no one will do it.

Its no joke, a port of Nexuiz for console (as stated here http://www.nexuiz.com/) is now a fact. LordHavoc also confirmed this today. Apparently NDA's where signed to keep us in the dark. So much for "free as in free speech".

Well LordHavoc notified all the engine contributors, Lee was in charge of confirming everyone who contributed to the game content. Just relax mate, honestly. I'm pretty sure most of the game code doesn't come from our Nexuiz anyway iirc.

I hope they didn't only sign NDAs, but also made sure that no GPL content will be part of the game. Also, was the name "Nexuiz" licensed to them in a way that makes sure this GPL Nexuiz can continue to use it?

Who is in charge for licensing the name "Nexuiz" anyway? What is the form of the legal entity that owns the rights on the name? And who are the representatives for such legal entity? These are actually interesting questions...

Seriously in my opinion thats the worst thing that could happen.. I think this is going to split the community into the "PC-Oldschool-Neuxiz people" and the "Consoleshitz" . I loved Nexuiz cause it looked so oldschool and stuff and i am shocked when i saw the screens there and.. ugh probably i am talking shit cause i am angry but well.. :p

I must admit that not all mappers have been notified yet.
But this is simply because we need to know WHICH maps that Illfonic decided to PORT.
So all contributers decides IF they want their content in the game!

And I don't see how will this hurt the community. I can only see that Nexuiz will benefit from this in the long run.
