I was immediately giddy when i came to the website and saw these wonderful new beautiful screenshots, only to be shot down at the notice of it being a "Console" remake. Big time fail, I love Nexuiz as an open source game. I would hope that the community (in the event of this becoming a devastating blow to the Nexuiz (PC) community) will rebrand the game and up the overall quality and performance of the game, to outdo the console faixuiz.

The NFC signed it, too :D. You didn't edit your post :P

I just checked and I already had you and the NFC Clan on the "validated" list... as for the members, I'd rather have everybody sign here in order to have any point in the forum signature validation at all. Alternatively, if it is too much trouble to register to this forum, the members can of course sign on the Clan's homepage forum (just make a thread linking to this thread and sign there). I'd then happily include the link to that signature thread on the Clan's home page in this post and move the members that signed there to the "validated" list.

I don't want to turn you down, I am very happy that the statement is approved by the members of the NFC clan, it's just that there were several demands for SOME sort of signature validation, that's why I'd like to have every individual signature to be validated at least in some way. :o/

  • Halogene, do you think it would be useful to start contacting the non-validated clans directly, to come here and confirm? Perhaps people don't know about this thread and the additional signature validation process.

Hey, thats a great idea! :) We are all in the same boat here, there are no boss or chief for the community. So anyone who feel like it or know any clan folks or folks in general are free to hand them the http://icanhaz.com/infos link so they end up in this thread and can read the statement, if they happen to agree with it they can sign it.

OR they can make their own version and add other opinions to it them selfs. :)
I mean this statement is, besides what have been mentioned before, something to bind the most common elements of what the community feels is damn wrong about this whole storm of shit.

Well then... and now when we have this common ground people, as stated before - ANY ONE can start to make other statements and see how the community feels about it as we did with this statement. :)
So start that rage machine within! Get pissed of and fire up your favorite word editor and just write and write, that stuff you can edit later and come up with something good with a lot of thought AND then tell the world about it!

As Sartre said: "we deserve the world we live in". Aye harsh words, but non the less true, because we our selfs or together make a difference in the community or the world.
Someone have to stand up and say this is plain wrong and say:
    - This is the way I see how it is wrong this is how and why this and that could be better! :D

Yes, maybe we should do that. I wonder a bit why so many signees are still not validated...

Could be they simply don't know about this thread? Many were eager to participate with the document, but the piratepad is mostly empty now and who knows how many saw the final version and the link to this thread.

Also, paperclips is right :) in case you (halogene) don't contact the clan members today, I'll be happy to do it. Would do it even now, but won't have time until later today. Let's just make sure we don't send double notification emails :)

Someone should really write a post about it.

We have forked?! Why hasn't anyone written a post about it? This is really important news, thank you a_grue. There should of course be an announcement here on this forum.

Wow, interesting. Sounds really good. Most of the big names are there, just read the FAQ Page.

Personally, I'm happy they did this. I'm on board.

  • Signed with fervor!!!

I don't think Lee or Illfonic handled this well at all. Illfonic cannot simply take this GPL'ed code and run with it to create a commercial game. While they do own the name Nexuiz, (via copyright) they don't own the code licensed under GPL. They better be sure and comply with the GPL on EVERY SINGLE community contribution or they will hear from all of us and face bad press for doing so. That means they have to make ALL code and contributions originally under the GPL available under the same licenses, availalbe for download etc. (see GPL FAQ below.) Remember we all have the power as a community to keep them honest. It's fine to make $$ for making a game that is Open Source but this isn't the way to do it while maintaining the integrity and trust of a community that brought it there!

I for one will be moving to the fork Xonotic, a real community driven project born out of the ashes of Nexuiz....

There already is a definite reaction of the Nexuiz community: www.xonotic.org :o)

Hey, I managed to contact four clans from the unconfirmed list and some already signed (yay :)) I couldn't find any links or emails or populated irc channels for these:

    http://lzr.aussienexers.com/ - lzr clan
    http://prophets.aforumfree.com/ - Prophets Minsta Clan
    http://akion.planetnexuiz.de LaidBack
    http://nexuizclans.com - Nexuiz Clan Community
    http://unconnected-clan.de/ - [unconnected] Clan

In case you have a better idea (or contacts of people from these clans/communities) go ahead, but otherwise I'll continue with it tomorow.
