  • Hell yess, after a month hard work, some luck, and many many days of waiting, I have just finally bought my new pc! :D

    Screens of da little baby:

    Holder on the top:

Front of the house with opened USB hatch:

    Image

    System specs:
    MB:: P4 Gigabyte 8N-SLI S775 DDr2 PCI-E
    CPU: Celeron D 3000/533 S775
    RAM: 512/533 MB DDR II
Optical: DVD R+RW LG GSA H10
    VGA: Gigabyte NX73G128D-HR 7300 GS 128MB
Tv-Tuner: Leadtek Winfast2000XP (with remote control)
House: Midi ATX P4 Codegen 6102L CA 300W
    Mobile Rack

There are currently two ATA harddrives in, 10 BG Seagate for systems, and 160 Gb Samsung for stuffz. Thsi will change when I can spare some money for a bigger hd fro systems (then it will be SATA), and then the 10GB goes into the rack.

Teh full price was brutto 430 euros.

Nexuiz runs pretty well on it, when I get back from vacation I'll provide some benchmarkin gnfo abut it ;)

  • yeah, idd

I would NEVER EVER use a 10 GB harddisk (because a hardisk that has 10 GB capacity must be very old) because it is very slow for sure. But as you said, you are going to get a new one and replace that anyway ;)

  • and how fast are they ? 500 kb/s ? :o

I can even say that my 250 GB harddisk is 2-3x faster than my old 40 GB harddisk, how slow must a 10 GB harddrive be then, and how slow a 80 mb drive ?

  • new celerons is fine for most stuff. celeron if not neray as bad preformace wise as back in the days when they was retarded p2 cores with no cash at all. and its a socket S775, so it can proly take a core duo cpu after a bios flash should you find yorself cpu limited.

the best thing to use a old drive for is systemdrive, its the thing that mattars the least if it crash and burn. The speed of a drive is not only dependednt on its age, but also how mutch it has been used. As drives get mor wonrn down more reads/writes needs to be done per request becuse of errors. Once this level gets high enougth the drive fails. I have 6 gig drives i use, from left over parts that never got used (md raid for backup) thise work just fine.. ofc they are not sata or udma 133, but if you think a normal drive can diliver 300/150/133m/s you got another suprize comming anyways xD

Anyways, nice rig - see ya in nex soon =)
    HOF:
<Diablo> the nex is a "game modification"
<Diablo> quake1 never had a weapon like that.
<Vordreller> there was no need for anything over 4GB untill Vista came along
    <Samua>]Idea: Fix it? :D

In reply I wanted to have a P4, but I have an out of cash. Anyway, I'm very proud of this rig, as I have bought it from the money I have earned in the pharmacy where I was working for a month. Nearly all, I got about 55 euros from my parents to get the full price, but the majority is from my earnings.

I know this sounds lol for most of you as you're almost all working ppl here, but this was my second job, and I never thought I would learn (and earn ;) ) so much there.

  • It's a great feeling to buy something with your own earned money when you're young.
But once you hit my age (and bills) you just don't wanna spend a penny.

BTW, it's a decent rig...and since it's all your earned euros that payed for it, yopu better be proud :)

do you mean because you started computing before there was the concept of a SIMM Module? thats at least what hit me

Commodore 3032 was my first computer (http://www.vintage-computer.com/pet8032.shtml is the advanced version)

  • Pfft, at least you have decent computer, my thing is so crap icant even run old games at a decent frame rate(e.g. Unreal Tournament at 13 frames per second)

    My P.C. has a beastly 350mhz AMD K6.
    A 4 and 2 gig hard-drive
S3 Trio 3d graphics card and 256 mb of ram.

Oh how i wish my old system did not set alight. 12 grand down the drain.
