  • Well, the spring semester is finally starting for me again.

This semester, I'm taking the first calculus class, Spanish, and Chemistry.

It's a light load, something like 13 credit-hours, but it would be problematic to take more since on Tuesdays I will have class from 11:00 to 6:20 with a nice big break for lunch, and because I ride the bus. I hear public transportation is more efficient in Europe, but in my case, it takes about an hour and a half to get here and a bit longer to get home, whereas it would normally be a 30 minute drive.

The Calculus class will be kind of tough. I really don't care much for math, but I can generally figure it out if I apply myself.

The Spanish will be easy since I took Spanish in high school.

I'm really worried about the Chemistry class, though. The prerequisite is either high school chemistry, or the preceding chemistry class. I did have high school chemistry, but I am afraid it didn't do me much good. It was first hour, and quite frankly, the teenage brain simply isn't meant to learn things at 7:45 in the morning. The other part is that the teacher got knocked up, so we got stuck with a substitute teacher who taught us chemistry all wrong for a few months.

At the end of this year, I should hopefully earn my Associate in Science degree. If something stupid happens, I should still have enough credits to earn an Associate in Arts degree. From there, I'll transfer to ASU to work on a bachelor's degree.

I am currently majoring in geology.

So... I know we have at least a few more students here. What sort of classes are you taking? What are you majoring in?

  • classes i'm taking:

    Differential Equations
    Multivariable Calculus
    Physics II
    Object-Oriented Development

I'm changing my major from Computer Engineering to Computer Science, it will be more fun I think.

as far as Chemistry, there seems to be a large disparity between what is taught in secondary education levels of Chemistry and college or university chemistry. It shouldn't be too bad as long as you: go to class, do the work, and get help if you need it.

    So... How about school?

Well today was our first day of classes, and I was in Diff. Eq. meeting my teacher (a funny frenchman named Renardy), and a fellow burst into the classroom and said "All students need to return to their dormitories or apartments". This was very funny, because he made it seem like we were under siege by the Death Eaters. Here is the story. I wish I had my camera, because the sight of 25000 students trying to call each other on their cell phones was funny. Too bad the murderer couldn't wait until exams to start killing people. (yes that was a joke)
Well, I'm under strict orders not to "wander about" until the manhunt has completed, so I'm going to play tetris now.

Update: Wonderful news, they caught the insane murderer. I didn't get to go to physics today though, which is probably my favorite class.

    That's interesting.

Last year, I had a literature & film class. It had a lot to do with determining which myth archtype was portrayed, with emphasis on writing papers about which medium portrayed which elements more effectively.

  • The autumn semester will start here on september 1st.

I'll be back at the uni (but with my new nice rig, so in my free time I'll be able to play nexuiz with al you guys :D ), and couse my failed class in 1st year I'll be taking only 2 new classes afaik (you can't go further if you don't coplete all your classes, couse they depend on eachother).

    1.: Quantitative analitics chemistry
    2.: Organic Chemisrty

In the second year I would have to take Physical Chemistry, Botanics of Pharmacy take 2, and some other's I proly forgot now, but I have completed them last year )they did not depend on anything I have failed the first year.)

I'm looking realy forward oin these two classes, I find them realy interesting. Btw. about chemistry teaching, ofc. university stage is more higher and harder to learn then grammar school's chemisrty. That's what it's all about ;) I think you'd never need anthing more in your life - in case if you're not learning further in this theme.
