Since i only just installed XP on my laptop and had nothing else i found some pinball game with it (i have SP2).

I've become quite the pro at it...this is what happens when your halls charge you 170 for BASIC internet and 290 for the decent one which i cant afford neither atm, and since i do bugger all in my flat, cause no one's never in and it's like a morgue the whole building, it's easy for me to waste 4-5 hours on it

That really first came with ol' Microsoft Plus! for Windows 95. Since then ti's been bundled with Windows 98 and newer.

XP got rid of 3D Maze and all those desktop themes though >: (

hmz well, im getting better and better, i wouldn't call my score great, but i'm getting good to the point i know where you have to smack the ball on the flippers to get it to go to a certain place ...and that...is quite sad


6.8 million i've got at the moment (not great in my eyes)

I used to play it randomly from ~97-99 and at one point I know I was very good at it, but I have no recollection of what the scores were. If I had to guess they were in the 110-130million range.

I just stopped an played a couple games and got around 2-4million each and know there were absolutely no where near as good as when I was at my peak, I could see the strategies I used before, but just couldn't seem to utilize them. Its all about working series and gaining ranks, and getting extra balls wasn't too difficult (I think you could get unlimited extra balls, if not at least 2 per playing ball). I recall games going for the better part of an hour before, this time they slipped by in just a few minutes. As I recall, there is a way to score 30-something million in the first 2 minutes.

Searching the web trying to remember some of this stuff, http://www.rdrop.com/~half/General/Game ... cadet.html is exactly what I remember. Funny how I never knew there were cheats though (just found that out through seach... http://www.actiontrip.com/cheats/3dpinb ... adet.phtml )

And the game was actually created as a 3d game by Maxis in '95, but as leileilol stated, its first 2d counterpart appeared in the Windows 95 Plus! pack.

It's coming back to me now, I think that there are 6 yellow gates the ball passes through upon launch, and if you launch lightly enough so that it only passes through the first, bonus points are awarded.

For the record, my favorite pinball game was Epic Pinball: The Ultimate Collection
which I believe consisted of 3 different tables (I only recall liking 2 of them)

They were from the win3.1 days...

Evidently there were like 10 tables by the end, but in the beginning they were all sold seperately.

I recall Deep Sea (my personal favorite) and Crash and Burn

I remember playing it for days! My highest score is on my old pc but i dont remember it. Never had the time nor motivation to do it again. The last time i tried i got only 9 mil +. Use hyperspace to get extra balls, but dont get gravity because it confuses, fill the landing lights to raise the hitpoints and do your missions. Its all about timing and combos. You can get fast highscores when you time the jackpots. Start off at the third light, it gives 75000.

lol, last time I played that Pinball game was on Windows 95. I think I got around 8-9 million.

I think linux is missing a similar game or even its own SkiFree

I never got into those games, although I used to have an actual pinball machine. I would always get fed up and switch to Descent (an even more frustrating game).

If you haven't got internet, why not just get some actual games and play the single player.
