Since I haven't updated the news in a while I thought I'd give an update on Nexuiz development and the other projects. Right now the plan is to release Nexuiz 1.6 on May 31st, the one year anniversary of the 1.0 release. New features will include all new particle effects, new maps, some bugfixes, and some weapon changes. The most important new feature though will be the complete bumpmapping and gloss added to all the maps. Rather than realtime lights before (which was extremely slow) the bumpmapping has been precompiled, so its only a minor performance hit, and bumpmap/gloss textures have been made for almost all of the Nexuiz textures and models.

Zymotic, the next game in development by Alientrap, is going good. The team is still looking for level designers and 3d artists, if interested see Helpwanted. Its still early in development and a website is being worked on.

Good, it'll be out after my exams so I should be less likely to fail!

I hope there are really a lot of new maps in 1.6 .

I think while there is no autodownload of maps, new maps are very important!

Delayed? Argh!!! I just can't wait for Nexuiz 1.6 to come out! Can someone post a few high-quality screenshots showing off the deluxemapping or post a video teaser or someting? Pleeeeease?

That's great! The video teaser, along with the upcoming release of Nexuiz 1.6, should get more people playing.

Once Nexuiz 1.6 does come out ,
I will be requesting 4 Australian ISPS to mirror the file and
get Bigpond Gameareana to upgrade their server .

I would like to see in v1.6 the choice once again to join Yellow and Pink team since that option was removed in 1.5

Also a slightly better Ping Filtering system in the online server browser to prevent 300 to 900 ping lagy players joining a server and bitching about lag

The idea is good and in general works very well. The readme mentions how to get the current version from SVN. So people can take part and see what happens. But i think a game needs to be in a polished state when its released and this also counts for a test release. There are test releases available from time to time for people that do not like to use SVN.
(However as Nexuiz does change very much from version to version most releases are incompatible and as one of the earlier test releases was announced as a new release on some news sites by some (friendly) guy i think this motto can also be a problem at times)

Yeah, we don't want people thinking that Nexuiz is dead...

Not only will I mirror a Nexuiz installer for windows, but I'll also mirror the original zip for the linux users. I have about 399Gigs of unused bandwith so that souldn't be a problem
