  • I noticed on the DCC website there's a link to the #nsb channel on quakenet IRC. Could anybody of the server team note that this channel is rather inexistant and change it to some other channel? who of the DCC team is expected to be met there anyway?

Is there a NSB member in the DCC team at all?

  • Hi,

we've just changed the stat scripts so that

    a) a nick which starts with ^4^2 is replaced in all stats processing and display with "(anon)"

    and

    b) no detailed stats (playtime graphs etc.) are available for "(anon)"

The realtime player-on-server display on the frontpage of http://delight.vapor.com/ is not affected.

  • The "Laid Back CTF Server" now keeps track of flag capture times. In the individual player stats there is now a list of best-times per map. We will add "per map" stats later on.

  • DCC devs, could you tell me (or provide links to) how scores in stats are calculated (especially in CTF)?

  • Just the same as on other CTF servers.. Your get 5 points/frags for capturing, 1 for each frag and iirc 3 or returning a flag. Oh and you get 1 point for grabing the flag.

The next version of Nexuiz will however count real captures and the team with the most captures will win.

  • Oh, I know about in-game scoring; I wanted to understand how "average scores" are calculated in DCC player stats - e.g. http://delight.vapor.com/plist.php?s=5&l=250&o=0&m=20.
P.S. Afaik, for returning the flag there is +5 ;)

    EDIT: official sources mentioned:
delight.vapor.com officials at the bottom of the site wrote:... Scoring implemented by 7051...
(nice nickname for scoring algorithm implementer) :)

  • haha, afaik nobody knows how exactly the scoring system works but 7051 (or maybe Sxen knows as well but refuses to tell). 7051 was fired from Sxen's company or was killed by him or was fired and all the grief and despair killed him.

So he took all his knowledges with him, down to his clammy grave...

  • DCC will move to a new box soon (nitrogen.vapor.com, a Dual E5405 in the Level 3 hosting facility in Düsseldorf).

The old box will be up until June, so in the meantime, we're running experimental 2.5 servers on the new machine (labeled "D2C5C"). There is no web site and no stats for the new machine so far.

    Enjoy.

  • Did you try nitrogen already? The new location should have no worse connectivity than carbon, as it has direct access to the same peering facilities where carbon got it's rather good german connectivity from; however, in most cases it should be much better reachable from the "far" Internet since it is now more or less directly connected to Level 3's Euroring.

  • Hi,

with the release of 2.5, we've now made nitrogen the main server and switched off the 2.4 servers on carbon. The stat system has been migrated to 2.5 as well -- there may be the occassional glitch in the stats parsing, please inform us if you notice something.

The stats have been reset with the 2.5 release, on the ground that this is now basically a slightly different game. If you are interested in the old stats, they are available under

    http://olddelight.vapor.com/

until carbon is being switched off on start of June.

nitrogen is now running 3 ladder servers, which default to 1on1, 2on2 and 3on3 configurations; all of them can be voted into any of the ladder modes, though.

There used to be some glitches with the routing from the netherlands, which is now hopefully fixed. If you experience worse connectivity to nitrogen than to the old carbon, I'm still interested to hear about it.

    Best Regards,
    Olli

As far as I have been able to test it playing for some hours last couple of free days, it has been fixed very nicely. So thanks once again for taking an interest in doing that. I'm looking forward to a lot more happy hours of frag on Plain Delight :)

  • Hi! I have a small question or/and small suggestion (if possible). I was wondering if it is possible to send a message to the dcc beginners delight server every time someone logs in on the plain dcc server?

So that there would be a message: "nickname"/"one player of eight", is connected to dcc Plain delight." or something similar. Of course its enough to print it when there is just one player.

lol a bit late, but.. :D Well, when I join the plain server and have played for a while, and no new players join, I join the beginners server. Often I just use the laser, depending on the skill level of other players. But I cant see, when someone joins the game over at the plain server. Or people on the beginners server see when someone/me joins the plain server. Its just so that it maybe, could get more players on plain and if not that, make the players aware that a player joined and is playing a bot over at the plain server really.

It should of course only print out a message when there is a player vs bot, 1/8-situation.

  • I would like it possible and I'd help if need be in maintaining some of it if the DCC Player stats could be incoporated into a Facebook App on FB you would search your user then you could save it which then displays a few of your dcc game stats on your FB profile,

I'm 99.9% sure its implementable and would love to help but I have little php and DB knowledge on the other hand I know some(!) stuff about facebook apps!

  • Hi guys, not really sure where to post this.

Just a quickie: there is a guy who always shows up with the same name (Nadz) in the DCC server and uses some sort of script to flood completely the srever, rendering the game no fun actually unplayable. I believe his ip must be logged since he shows up regularly, he really needs a ban, this has been going on 4 a while frustrating everyone.

Cheers and thx 4 hosting the server :)

  • Agreed.

In all honestly, I would recommend giving some of the more active/trustworthy players rcon access to deal with this kind of stuff.

Personally I'd ban Nadz on sight for his previous asshattery.
Possibly not the worst mapper in the world.
