  • the trouble dj is not only this particular wan@!er , is that generally office hours (times i am most active and know what;s happening in dcc) there are just not enough ppl with rcon access (admins) cause they are busy irl as they actually should. and it is by far the most popular eu server hosting most gametypes atm. I for one could suggest the admins a couple more trustworthy/active/(mental age>17) ppl like sepelio, mirio(lately missed him), paperclips, dim, your errors. These ppl do show up mon-fri 10-17 more than 50% of the time :) . anyway this is my experiance at least 4 these day times.

*edit* add xsax on the list. o happy days : D

  • He's a grown man working in a factory in Lithuania. Not the best english skills, and aware of what internet anonimity offers.
He's still open for kinda serious conversation if you give him some attention.

dj, i back up Mr Bougo. xsax is for real, he 's really in lithuania, grown up in his mid 30's. His internet alter ego, in a game where the average age is around 14-15 is amazingly amusing imho (i m 28 years old). I mean, seriously, u must be really dedicated to be what he is : ) a legend ^^.
And yes, he does spik korekt english though he hates them , and he is not homophobic!!! He even has some correct society/relationships ideas, and i m dead serious about that. I mean out of all the trolls around, this must be THE epic prototyp,as soon as you get past the AGY AHAHAHA)) mantle.

  • I hope I can reach the server admins here, cause I've run out of ideas...

Yesterday, I've banned NADZ from the server, but today, I can't find him on the banlist.
What's going on? Does the server auto-updates, and forgets all the setting?
Also, having the cross-server banlist set up would be a nice.
    Thx.

BTW: does 2.5.2 have player message ignore features? Let's not give the trolls the attention they crave for (even without an ignore feature all i ever did was ignore the trolls, and it would have worked out if not everybody got so excited every time a troll is around and screamed for kicks and bans, ruining the game)..

Anyways: Does 2.5.2 have the "ignore player" feature and if so: how to use it?

Afaik it does not have this feature, and even if it would - it'd be somewhat hard to control. If somebody would wish to integrate this with a playerscoreboard that'd be awesome, but using any command would be too difficult for a large part of our playerbase.

Also this doesn't entirely solve the problem, with the amount of spam Nadz sends to the server, this starts eating on the servers resources and bandwidth. The proper solution would be to not even have these messages networked to the server - however being open source does not help in that regard. One could always modify his client to send them anyway.

Thank you my dearly beloved sister, and thank you C.Brutail for stepping into the breach! I hope you find all the help you need by the gandmasters of server configuration KadaverJack maybe? We urgently need to play around with the antilag feature, especially on Pussy's Delight of course. It's still behavin kinda weird :D

  • Quick update:

I've removed voting to get master status on the CTF server.
Also, for some reason the global banlist doesn't work yet. The cvar is set, it gives back the correct value on the console, but for some reason it still doesn't update.
    Work in progress :D

In a sense one never has any control about what the client sends to the server even with closed source apps. And with UDP you don't even have any "connection" state. So there's no connection that might be "dropped". At least not on the transport layer. So basically i could use netcat to hammer a nexuiz server with bogus messages. The question is always what happens with the packets on the server side.

EDIT: I just see that this is totally off topic for this thread. Sorry.

so this means if we have any problems with anyone, regular players can no longer kick ban them? :-(

  • No. This means no one can gain master status without knowing the master password anymore.
    Vcall kick should still work.
Also, I fail to see how could one gain master by votes and break havoc on the server.

  • I've tried to make some update on the server today, but it was more/less a failure.
For some odd reason only the ladder servers seem to use the cross server banlist. The cvars are set up correctly for all the other servers, they request the list delayed by 15 seconds one by one (as the servers start like that), but still it doesn't work. If only one server is running, it doesn't work either.

I've set fbskin_green on the minsta server, so no coward camouflaging with skins anymore.

Have fun getting complaints when Nadz decides to pay a visit to your server.
