I know that this thread is old now but I gotta say.. I for one love single player games, especially if the story is amazing. If you really think about it, playing multiplayer games all the time is not that fun. I love stories, big deep stories like Far Cry, Ground Control 2, Freelancer. And I hope the story for Zymotic will be just as good when it comes into the light.

And then, multiplayer based on the story would be nice, something like Aliens vs Predator.. there's a little story behind it though not much.

I love multi-player co-op games. When my friend and I tried out Return to Castle Wolfenstein, we were excited about the game play, but we were really disappointed that there was not a co-op storyline option. It would've been so cool to be able to work as a team to accomplish a goal, similar to CTF but much more indepth.

I have been a linux gamer for a long time now - and though I have found some pretty darn good open-source RPG's and RTS's - I am an all out First-person shooter. And there is just far too many multiplayer-only games out there -(AlienArena, Nexuiz, Enemy-territory, Americas Army, Quake3, Unreal Tounament francheise, etc....) It is time for a resolution. I have been playing quake4 for linux for a while now and it it beutiifull... but when I go online it is brutally disappointing - its like I am walking back into the quake3 servers with a graphics upgrade?! Halo for xbox did something revolutionary - CO-OP mode, I am not sure if they were the first. But it seems to be the best example I know of. Anyway, An online-team based single player game for Linux will certainly set a new standard for first-person shooters for the linux community. And even the commercail games are all going multiplayer now - (UT2007, ET:QW, BF2142) I just want to get that origional halo feel again. I loved it so much I played muliplayer for hours anyway. Just my two cents...

Quake1/2 already had a coop mode.. in fact quite a few of those old games did have it. Its just way harder to do in modern games as its hard to script all the events so its working right for two or more players. Thats kind of a shame but it would be much more cool if Zymotic manages to do better

Unreal came out after Quake 2.

Also, if you want early multiplayer coop in FPSes, you gotta go for Doom.

Hmm, no-kidding? Well, i DONT want early FPS COOP - but since nothing else HAS it, I am forced to go after it. I will look into it. Thanks

There is nothing bad about old games.. some are even more fun but yes a new game with good coop support would be nice! Lets see what zymotic can do for us

You wanted characters, if I remember, in 3D, and textures...

What exactly is this going to be? It should have a story mode, and stuff. and there should be a contest for the story. Because I think it should be way Different then nexuiz, because why should there be 2 similar games?

Is there enough progress to post a screenie?

halo was nothing new. imo coop mode had already mabe even better in doom 1 and 2 right up to quake 2.

some coop games even keep a geeked out ctf freak like me intrested, just so long as its really really hard then i think it has some replay value.

i think doom3 was nowhere near as doom2 for coop, but hey last man standing for doom3 was still a bit of fun.
